YouTuber Ascends Mount Everest Sporting Luffy’s Hat from One Piece

French YouTuber Inoxtag took a significant break from the internet, disappearing for six months to prepare for the challenging trek up Mount Everest. He achieved this ambitious goal while sporting Luffy’s iconic straw hat in September.

Inoxtag is a well-known French content creator with over 8 million subscribers on YouTube. His channel features engaging IRL-style content, including travel vlogs and creative challenges, such as spending ’24 days in the mountains’, and accepting ‘one surprise a day’ for a month.

In April 2024, Inoxtag decided to elevate his content by announcing his intent to tackle the “biggest challenge” of his life — climbing Mount Everest.

He made this announcement in a revealing YouTube video titled ‘Au Revoir YouTube,’ where he explained that he wouldn’t be producing content for a while, focusing instead on training for this monumental climb.

On September 14, 2024, Inoxtag released the long-anticipated video documenting his incredible journey to the world’s tallest peak. This two and a half-hour video, titled ‘KAIZEN,’ has amassed over 24 million views within just four days.

The term ‘KAIZEN’ is a Japanese concept that signifies long-term or ‘continuous improvement.’ In this video, Inoxtag takes viewers along on his challenging ascent, culminating in an emotional moment at the summit of Everest.

“If it weren’t for the sherpas, we wouldn’t be here,” Inoxtag said tearfully while embracing his companions. “We never would have made it. Thank you to everyone who believed in me. We really did it.”

He encouraged his audience further by stating, “We shouldn’t try to be the best; we should just aim to be better than yesterday. We should all pursue projects and stop passively scrolling through screens. Get outside and make your ideas a reality.”

During the celebration, one of his friends playfully placed Luffy’s straw hat on his head, capturing victorious photos of the YouTuber in the anime character’s famous accessory.

Ultimately, Inoxtag’s journey serves as an inspiring message about “becoming better than yesterday every day and embracing adventures.”

Inoxtag’s remarkable achievement quickly went viral on social media, leaving both fans and anime enthusiasts amazed by his commitment.

“Salute to the man!” one user tweeted. “Taking Luffy’s legendary straw hat to the top of the world (Everest) is such an epic tribute to adventure and dreams. Incredible!”

“Oda should add him to the straw hat crew,” another user suggested, referring to the series’ creator, Eiichiro Oda.

YouTube also congratulated the influencer, describing the climb as a feat “no one will forget.”

As of now, Oda has not publicly commented on Inoxtag’s viral video — but it’s evident that he has left a significant mark on anime fans globally, demonstrating that with determination, anything is achievable.

Inoxtag isn’t alone in his pursuit of extraordinary physical feats lately. On September 4, German Twitch streamer Arda Saatçi completed a grueling 3,000-kilometer ultra-marathon from Berlin to New York City after breaking his shinbone. Additionally, streamer Doug ‘Censor’ Martin set a world record for the most pull-ups completed in 24 hours on September 8.
