At the sentencing trial on August 12th in the Seoul Central District Court, the prosecution asked for a fine of 3 million won (equivalent to approximately 2,190 USD) for YouTuber A. The charge against YouTuber A was violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. (defamation).
A, in their final statement, expressed remorse and acknowledged, “During that period, I lacked maturity and failed to consider the consequences of my actions. I am deeply sorry for the harm caused to the victims,”and implored for leniency. A’s sentencing is scheduled for September 11.
A video uploaded on their infamous YouTube channel, Sojang, in 2022 has led to accusations against A for defaming Kang Daniel through the dissemination of fake news about the male idol.
Initially, the prosecution submitted a summary indictment against A in November of the previous year. However, upon the request of Kang Daniel’s representatives, the court decided to proceed with a formal trial for the case.
In May, A was indicted for continuously posting videos that defame celebrities and influencers. Despite not being detained, they are currently appealing the verdict of the first trial in a defamation case brought against them by Jang Wonyoung from IVE.
