YouTuber Goes Above & Beyond to Cram Mechanical Keyboard into Laptop

Marcin Plaza, a YouTuber, was experiencing issues with his laptop keyboard. In his most recent video, he documents his process of rebuilding a budget Lenovo laptop and successfully fitting in a full mechanical keyboard.

Plaza accomplishes this task by disassembling the laptop into its individual components. He then adopts the role of a mechanical engineer and revamps the case. This process required more than 12 hours of his time to complete.

Plaza still found the TL84-B keyboard, made by Redragon and harvested for parts, to be too fat even after receiving the finished print of the laptop’s chassis.

Disassembling the laptop up to the motherboard, Plaza also removed a USB-C dongle from its casing. The second part of the video shows the modder putting together the final build.

Plaza’s method of connecting the keyboard does not require any manual wiring until it is implemented.

The latest chassis features a single visible USB-A port, with the third port concealed.

Plaza joined the connection pins on the USB port together in order to establish a connection between the keyboard and its wires.

Although Plaza’s editing gives the impression of a chaotic assembly process, the end result is surprisingly visually appealing. This is true even in its unconventional, haphazard manner of being put together.

Plaza has a history of repurposing old computers for practical use. Just last month, he shared a video showcasing his transformation of discarded electronics, commonly known as “e-waste,”into a homemade server.

Recently, his channel has gained 8.12K followers and has been steadily gaining momentum, with an increase in views for each video. Notably, the laptop video has accumulated almost 150,000 more views than the e-waste server video.
