On May 17th, Lee Jin-ho, a former journalist turned YouTuber, shared a new video titled “Shocking exclusive news! I am revealing information about NewJeans”.
During the press conference, Lee Jin-ho noticed a strong show of support for Min Hee-jin when she used the phrase “X ahjussi.”This led him to question her views on women and the social frustration she expressed towards men. While the materials that were revealed in court shed some light on this, they were censored at Min Hee-jin’s request. However, Lee Jin-ho has complied all the messages and is presenting Min Hee-jin’s words in their original form.
The YouTuber then exposed Kakaotalk exchanges from January 2024 between CEO Min Hee-jin and the male Deputy CEO of ADOR.
Lee Jin-ho revealed that earlier this year, HYBE received a report about a sexual harassment and bullying incident involving a female employee at ADOR. The deputy CEO’s proposed solution was to bring a young female employee to a drinking party with employees from a partner company in order to create a lively atmosphere. However, after the party, the men left together and left the woman alone, causing her to feel embarrassed. The woman reported the incident to HYBE and an official investigation was conducted in March. It was determined to be a communication issue and the company issued a warning as a resolution. During this time, CEO Min sent a message to the Deputy CEO, instructing them to handle the situation.
In a subsequent text exchange, the female CEO expressed her frustration by stating, “I find it difficult to work with young women. They seem to constantly complain, irritate me, and appear exhausted. They lack any sense of responsibility… These women, even though we share the same gender, I have a strong dislike for them. They have a narrow perspective and are perpetually lazy. They envy my success, claiming they could never achieve it if they put in the same amount of effort as me. XX women.”
What’s even more surprising is the message that Min Hee-jin, “NewJeans’ Mom,”sent while preparing for the acceptance speech of the group members. This message is among the most unbelievable things I discovered. Wasn’t Min Hee-jin the one who cared the most for NewJeans and even cried at the press conference, saying, “Is this how it feels to raise a child?”She was also the one who raised the issue of Chairman Bang Si-hyuk ignoring the members’ greetings. I will deliver Min Hee-jin’s message exactly as she wrote it.
The message advised, “Advise them to always remain humble, even as they gain popularity, even if they become overweight like pigs. If they act cool but fail to greet me, I may want to harm them.””What do they even understand? They should take a good look at themselves in the mirror.”
Lee Jin-ho revealed, “Not only did she make derogatory comments about a specific member’s appearance, using her real name, she also sent a text message stating, “I scolded these foolish kids for not being able to lose weight.”In the message, she said, “Oh, my goodness, XX is so overweight (member’s name).”
There are also insulting messages directed at NewJeans’ fans. The messages stated, “The people who support those foolish kids are just as foolish themselves.”
According to Lee Jin-ho, this information was verified during HYBE’s audit procedure. He also mentioned that CEO Min Hee-jin has already calculated the precise amount of compensation in case the contract is terminated.
During coverage of the case, Lee Jin-ho revealed, “The most surprising aspect for me was Min Hee-jin’s behavior. She presented herself as the ‘Mother of NewJeans’ with genuine sincerity at the press conference, but it was later discovered that she frequently spoke negatively about the members.”Lee Jin-ho added, “When questioned about the data submitted to the court, ADOR’s representatives accused HYBE of manipulating it.”
On the same day, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Agreement Division 50 (Chief Judge Kim Sang-hoon) held a temporary hearing for CEO Min Hee-jin’s injunction to prohibit HYBE from exercising their voting rights. If the court denies the injunction, CEO Min will likely be removed from their position at the shareholder meeting scheduled for May 31st.
During the questioning, HYBE asserted that Min Hee-jin had no qualms about making derogatory comments about the NewJeans members, despite being publicly known as the “Mother of NewJeans”. In response, Min Hee-jin’s team presented Kakaotalk messages sent by the NewJeans members as evidence of Bang Si-hyuk’s discrimination, including his failure to respond to their greetings.
HYBE specifically alleged that Min Hee-jin’s supposed concern for NewJeans was actually only for their financial gains. Despite claiming to sympathize with the group like a mother, she reportedly made derogatory remarks about the members to her acquaintances, such as complaining about the difficulty of caring for them and taking credit for their success. Additionally, HYBE accused the female CEO of gaslighting the members to manipulate them into relying on her.
HYBE has scheduled a shareholder meeting for May 31st where they will propose the removal of current ADOR board members, including CEO Min Hee-jin, and the appointment of new directors. The court has stated that a decision will be made before the May 31st meeting and has requested that both parties submit any necessary data by the 24th. The court will review the submitted information and make a decision before the shareholder meeting on the 31st.
