In a recent interview with YTN on September 13, Tzuyang’s legal representative, attorney Kim Tae Yeon, provided an update on her well-being. According to Kim, the Korean “mukbang” star has largely isolated herself at home and has turned down psychological counseling.

“Tzuyang was encouraged to pursue counseling following the abuse from her ex-boyfriend, but she has chosen to decline and has been spending most of her time indoors. She used to enjoy eating, often snacking when I saw her. However, she has recently lost her appetite and has shed about 2-3 kg,” the lawyer stated.

Kim emphasized that Tzuyang is grateful for the support and encouragement she has received from her fans during this challenging time.

After this update, an outpouring of support flooded her social media and online platforms, with fans expressing their unwavering encouragement.

  • “Stay strong, please remember to eat. I hope you find happiness soon. It might seem like a long, dark tunnel, but there are many people walking through it with you. Let’s reach the end together.”
  • “You need to nourish yourself to stay strong and push through this.”

In early July, Tzuyang revealed shocking details about the abuse she suffered from her ex-boyfriend, who secretly filmed her and threatened to release explicit footage. She also stated that he coerced her into working as a bar hostess. Her ex-boyfriend, who was also her manager, exploited her both financially and sexually, extorting over 4 billion won (approximately $2.9 million) over four years.

After enduring four years of distress, Tzuyang finally reported him to the authorities. However, the investigation came to a tragic halt when her ex-boyfriend took his own life during the police inquiry. Tzuyang revealed this traumatic account after facing threats and blackmail from several YouTubers.

On July 26, the court issued arrest warrants for YouTubers Lee Jun-hee and Jeon Kuk-jin, known respectively by their channel names Gujeyeok and Jujakgambeolsa. The two men were charged with extortion, threats, and coercion, having demanded 55 million won (about $39,700) from Tzuyang in February in exchange for keeping her past with her ex-boyfriend confidential.

Tzuyang, whose real name is Park Jeong Hyeon and born in 1996, stands as one of South Korea’s leading mukbang YouTubers, boasting over 10 million followers. In a Gallup Korea survey conducted from March 22 to April 5, she was recognized as the most popular YouTuber with 5.2% of the votes.
