Yuji finally saves Megumi from Sukuna’s clutches in Jujutsu Kaisen

Although the official release date for Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268 is Monday, September 2, 2024, spoilers for the upcoming chapter were leaked online days beforehand. As a result, fans were able to glean information about the latest developments in the series before its official release.

After the events in the previous chapter, Yuji successfully used his Black Flash to break Ryomen Sukuna’s hold on Megumi Fushiguro’s body. As a result, Megumi was finally freed from Sukuna’s control. This was a difficult feat, especially considering Sukuna had possessed Megumi for over 50 chapters.

It is worth noting that during Yuji’s time as Sukuna’s host, he had a Binding Vow that granted the King of Curses control over his body for one minute, as long as he refrained from causing harm or death. Yet, Yuji discovered a loophole in this agreement as it did not extend to himself.

After taking over Yuji’s body in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 212, Sukuna forcibly fed one of his fingers to Megumi Fushiguro and successfully transferred himself into Megumi’s body. As a result, Sukuna was able to not only kill Megumi’s sister Tsumiki, but also his master Satoru Gojo and numerous other Jujutsu Sorcerers.

Despite Yuji’s attempt to reach Megumi’s soul through Dismantle, the Jujutsu Sorcerer rejected the hand that was offered to him. This further plunged Megumi into despair, causing him to lose all desire to see the light of day. The developments only served to strengthen his sadness and reluctance to continue living.

Despite the ongoing battle, Yuji was able to reconnect with Megumi. During this interaction, Yuji shared his fears of being without Megumi. Inspired by his friend’s words, Megumi mustered the strength to continue fighting against Sukuna within his own body.

Thanks to this opening, Yuji was able to retaliate against Sukuna within his domain. Shortly after, Nobara Kugisaki joined the battle and utilized Resonance on Sukuna’s remaining finger, which was situated elsewhere. This dealt even more damage to Sukuna, ultimately enabling Yuji to defeat him with the powerful Black Flash technique.

Despite multiple attempts to sever Sukuna’s connection to Megumi’s body through various Dismantles, it was not until the final moments that the two entities were on the brink of being separated. Sukuna, refusing to give up, tried to crush the unwavering determination shown by Megumi’s soul. Nevertheless, Megumi remained resolute in giving someone else a second chance at life.

Therefore, Yuji Itadori successfully freed Sukuna from Megumi’s body, rescuing him from Sukuna’s grasp. Although remnants of Sukuna’s power remained, the situation implied that the King of Curses had ultimately been defeated in the fight.
