Yuji Itadori’s formal entry into the series occurs upon the ingestion of one of Sukuna’s fingers, leading to Sukuna’s resurrection in the present day. While Sukuna initially seizes control of Yuji’s body, Yuji ultimately manages to reclaim it, establishing a complex coexistence with the powerful curse.

The dynamics between Yuji and Sukuna illustrate their contrasting philosophies. Sukuna perceives no worth in his existence and dismisses the importance of humanity, while Yuji values all lives, even Sukuna’s. This savior mentality, combined with Yuji’s desire to see Sukuna defeated, fostered widespread speculation that Yuji’s journey would culminate in his death, ultimately liberating Megumi.

This scenario would also align with his grandfather’s last words, urging him to surround himself with loved ones as he faced death. Although Yuji finds himself on the brink of death during his confrontation with Sukuna, he ultimately prevails by freeing Megumi and prompts Sukuna’s downfall through an acknowledgment of Yuji’s resolve. Gege Akutami had previously indicated that among Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, and Gojo, only one character would face death.

In the end, Gojo is the only character to face permanent death in this conflict, while Yuji and the rest of the original cast, including Megumi and Nobara, survive. By the close of Chapter 271, Yuji is still a student at Tokyo Jujutsu High. His direct engagement with Sukuna in combat, marked by numerous Black Flashes, positions Yuji among the elite sorcerers, comparable to Satoru Gojo.

Yuji’s abilities now include access to Sukuna’s shrine, Reverse Cursed Technique, Blood Manipulation, and Domain Expansion, along with a capacity for forming Binding Vows, mirroring Sukuna’s tactics during their intense battles. These powers significantly elevate Yuji’s status as an exceptionally formidable sorcerer.

Concluding Remarks

The finale of Jujutsu Kaisen has not indicated the possibility of a Part 2 or a spin-off series. Although the ending has sparked considerable debate and division within the shonen community, it concluded on a relatively optimistic note, leaving openings for potential future storylines. There is a possibility that an announcement for Part 2 or a spin-off will accompany the anticipated airing of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, which is slated for 2025.
