Yuji’s Execution May Not Be Cancelled Yet in Jujutsu Kaisen, and Sukuna’s Last Finger is Why

Following the recent release of the latest Jujutsu Kaisen spoilers, fans of the series rejoiced as Yuji Itadori and his team were confirmed to have emerged victorious against the formidable Ryomen Sukuna, also known as the King of Curses. This also marked the safe return of Megumi Fushiguro, with the only remaining uncertainty being the fate of Hiromi Higuruma and Yuta Okkotsu after the intense Shinjuku Showdown.

According to recent Jujutsu Kaisen spoilers, it appears that Sukuna’s one remaining finger may not be enough for him to reincarnate. As a result, it is speculated that the scheduled execution of Yuji Itadori may be canceled, as there is no longer a need for him to consume the final finger and sacrifice himself if Sukuna cannot be revived.

Nevertheless, Kenjaku’s statements in chapter 203 of Jujutsu Kaisen suggest that Yuji and Sukuna’s existence will prevent the cycle of curses from ever ceasing. He further declares Yuji as the catalyst for a new era, stating that as long as they both remain alive, the possibility of Yuji’s execution looms ahead, as foreshadowed by Kenjaku’s words.

The final Sukuna finger’s existence and its impact on Yuji’s role in Jujutsu Kaisen

To properly understand Kenjaku’s words in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 203, it is important to establish some parameters. Given his age and potential differences in his perception of life and death compared to readers, Kenjaku may view Sukuna’s final finger as a sign of his continued existence. He would likely acknowledge that the finger still possesses the ability to attract curses, indicating some form of life as a reincarnation object.

Additionally, Kenjaku possesses a deep understanding of Sukuna and Yuji due to his close connections with them. In the Heian era, he was both a contemporary and frenemy of Sukuna, and later on, he played a crucial role in Yuji’s birth while inhabiting Kaori Itadori’s body. Therefore, his statement about their existence perpetuating the cycle of curses carries considerable weight as he has extensive knowledge of their origins and abilities.

This foreshadows Yuji consuming Sukuna’s last finger and facing execution in chapter 271 of Jujutsu Kaisen, which will mark the end of the series on Monday, September 30, 2024. Yuji will likely feel compelled to do so in order to protect as many lives as possible, acknowledging the grave danger posed by both him and Sukuna remaining alive.

Yuji has recently made a significant progress by overcoming his previous “cog in the machine”mindset and understanding his true purpose. Despite this growth, he may still find himself stuck in the role of a cog in the machine, even when surrounded by his loved ones. However, his determination to fulfill his grandfather Wasuke’s wishes may overpower this recent mental transformation.

Furthermore, this would create a parallel to the opening chapter where Yuji’s initial mission is to ensure his death while being surrounded by loved ones. Additionally, there is potential for another reversal as the first chapter is titled “Ryomen Sukuna”and the final chapter could possibly be called “Yuji Itadori.”While this is purely speculative, there are strong indications and hints within the story that suggest Monday, September 30 may bring about this exact fate for Yuji.
