Yuji’s Final Words to Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 268 Calls Back to Mob Psycho 100’s Greatest Moment

In chapter 268 of Jujutsu Kaisen, it is revealed that Yuji Itadori successfully managed to remove Ryomen Sukuna from Megumi Fushiguro’s body. As Sukuna lay on the ground, nearing his death, Yuji made an offer to the King of Curses, proposing that they coexist together.

Despite the offer, Sukuna ultimately refused and met his demise. Interestingly, the exchange that occurred prior to this offer served as a reminiscent moment from the Mob Psycho 100 anime. The surprising connection between Jujutsu Kaisen and Mob Psycho 100 lies in the striking similarities between the protagonists of both series.

After Megumi Fushiguro’s body was freed from the possession of Ryomen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268, the remnants of the King of Curses were left scattered on the ground. In that moment, Yuji Itadori approached him and declared that they shared a common identity.

Despite being born with the same burden of a curse, Yuji and Sukuna’s fate were determined by luck. While Sukuna succumbed to becoming a monster, Yuji was fortunate to have his grandpa Wasuke Itadori guide him onto the right path, preventing him from transforming into a being similar to Sukuna.

Despite being an orphan with immense power that could easily lead him down a dark path, Yuji was fortunate to have a parental figure in his life – his grandpa, who served as a guiding light and kept him from becoming a ruthless being like Sukuna. Fans should not forget that Yuji’s strength was enough to cause damage to concrete, and had he not had a positive influence in his life, things could have turned out much worse.

One can argue that Jujutsu Kaisen appears to reference Mob Psycho 100’s most memorable scene due to its main character Shigeo Kageyama having a comparable experience. In this scene, a former esper named Keiji Mogami attempts to persuade Shigeo that without the support of positive influences in his life, he could have also been rejected and ostracized like Mogami.

Despite both Mogami and Shigeo possessing esper powers, their paths diverged greatly due to their individual circumstances and the influences of those around them. In contrast, Shigeo Kageyama confidently stated that he had no concerns about facing similar situations because he had positive influences in his life. He also expressed his gratitude towards those who had played a significant role in shaping his life, including the impact they had on him.

During this conversation, Mob’s main focus was on his master Reigen Arataka. Despite being a fraud, Reigen had been a guiding figure for Mob, steering him away from the wrong path.

During Yuji’s discussion about his grandfather, he expressed the same sentiment. If it weren’t for Wasuke Itadori’s guidance, Yuji may have become a person consumed by anger. As a result, both Yuji and Shigeo had comparable positive influences in Wasuke and Reigen, who steered them towards becoming upstanding members of society.
