Yuji’s Grandpa’s warning to Jin Itadori has so much more meaning after Jujutsu Kaisen’s Twin reveal

In chapter 257 of Jujutsu Kaisen, it was revealed that Ryomen Sukuna had a twin brother whose soul had been reincarnated in Jin Itadori, the father of the protagonist Yuji. This revelation establishes a familial connection between Yuji and Sukuna, but it also suggests that Yuji’s grandfather, Wasuke, may have had more knowledge about the situation than initially believed. This is evident in Wasuke’s realization that the powerful sorcerer Kenjaku had taken over the body of Kaori Itadori, Yuji’s mother, who had been alive for centuries.

In a previous chapter of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, it was revealed through a flashback that Wasuke had knowledge of Kaori’s transformation and had cautioned Jin against getting involved with her, as it would lead to his demise. Many readers initially believed that Wasuke’s warning was simply a gut feeling, but with the recent confirmation of the Itadori family’s connection to Sukuna and the striking resemblance between Kenjaku and the King of Curses, it is possible that there is more to Kenjaku’s involvement with the Itadoris than initially believed.

This article includes spoilers for the series.

In the initial chapter of the manga, Wasuke Itadori is near death and reveals to Yuji that he must uncover the truth about his parents, which many already know involves Kenjaku acting as the protagonist’s mother. While this was already known to fans, the recent revelation that Yuji’s father, Jin, is the reincarnation of Ryomen Sukuna’s twin brother brings a new level of depth to this scene.

During a flashback, it was revealed later in the story that Wasuke had warned Jin about getting involved with Kaori, but his son had ignored his advice. Many fans had initially believed that Wasuke simply had a negative feeling towards Kaori due to her seemingly being revived with stitches, but a new theory proposes that Kenjaku may have also been Wasuke’s mother.

The reason for this is because Wasuke bears a striking resemblance to Sukuna, even more so than Jin, who is the reincarnation of Sukuna’s twin brother. In addition, Yuji, who shares Sukuna’s blood, also resembles him. Interestingly, Yuji’s grandfather, who resembles Sukuna the most, had a negative feeling towards Kenjaku despite being an ordinary man. This could imply that he may have been acquainted with women who had similar stitches on their bodies, as Kenjaku, a centuries-old sorcerer, may have conducted experiments on the Itadori family.

Additional Information on the Theory

This theory suggests that Kenjaku may be responsible for the Itadori bloodline in Jujutsu Kaisen and that Yuji was the culmination of years, possibly even centuries, of experimentation to create the ideal Ryomen Sukuna vessel. This is supported by the fact that Cursed Wombs like Choso have been around for centuries, indicating that Kenjaku has been conducting experiments on humans and Curses for a very long time.

Despite the remaining unanswered questions, such as how Kenjaku learned about Sukuna’s twin brother and acquired his soul, some theories suggest that Jin Itadori became a Curse due to his resentment towards Sukuna for killing him in the womb. However, this theory is contradicted by the portrayal of Jin as a normal human in the flashback where he conversed with Wasuke. It is likely that author Gege Akutami will address this discrepancy.

Final Thought

There is a strong possibility that Kenjaku’s connection with the Itadori family may extend beyond the expectations of the Jujutsu Kaisen fan base. As a result, Wasuke’s final words of caution to Yuji may hold a deeper significance than initially perceived.
