Yuji’s Justification for Stealing Megumi’s True Trump Card in Jujutsu Kaisen

From the start of Jujutsu Kaisen, Megumi and Yuji were the initial characters to be introduced. As a shonen, the manga promptly established them as “rivals.”While this idea hasn’t been explicitly delved into like in other shonen series, their accomplishments and ever-increasing strength have solidified their intense competition.

Despite the belief that Megumi is stronger than Yuji due to Yuji’s predicted defeat against Mahoraga, it is crucial to acknowledge that this situation cannot be used as a basis for comparing their strength.

Please note: This article contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen series.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Yuji’s Physical Abilities Always Surpass Megumi’s

Despite already being recognized as a prodigy, Megumi Fushiguro continued to impress with his exceptional skill in analyzing enemy techniques, identifying patterns, and exploiting weaknesses. This was evident in his battle against Dagon, where he strategized a way to survive Dagon’s domain, and later when he emerged victorious against Reggie Star.

Despite the fact that those occurrences served as significant signs of Megumi’s abilities, it was truly solidified that he was a prodigy when he became the youngest sorcerer to successfully perform a Domain Expansion.

Despite Megumi’s lack of barrier construction skills, Gojo was still able to achieve his Domain Expansion at a young age, making him the youngest sorcerer to do so. His “awakening”occurred sometime in his second or late third year, and similarly, Yuta also achieved his domain and special grade status in his second year.

Despite Megumi’s feat being the only thing that showcased his capabilities being above Yuji’s, Yuji managed to surpass him in chapter 264 by utilizing a Domain Expansion with a physical barrier. This is further reinforced by the assumption that Yuji’s domain was able to defeat Sukuna.

Despite the argument that Yuji’s extensive training in the soul swap technique, his unique pseudo-Death Painting physiology, and exposure to Sukuna’s cursed energy all played a role in his strength, it is important to acknowledge that Megumi has been immersed in the world of sorcery since childhood and has received training from Gojo. Additionally, his inherited cursed technique levels the playing field when comparing him to Yuji.

Despite Megumi’s lack of an inherited cursed technique, Yuji was able to become a sorcerer at the age of 14-15 without any inherited abilities. Even though the fandom predicted that Yuji would eventually surpass Megumi in strength, it is highly likely that Yuji’s potential and determination simply make him a better sorcerer overall.
