As the manga of Jujutsu Kaisen draws towards its conclusion, fans are left with numerous unanswered questions that go beyond the defeat of Ryomen Sukuna. One of the most notable topics is Kenjaku’s scheme to merge humanity with the Cursed Energy accumulated during the Culling Games, utilizing Tengen, a powerful sorcerer capable of fusing with others.
The merger remains a major source of speculation in Jujutsu Kaisen, as even Kenjaku is unaware of its true nature. This has sparked various theories among fans, with one recent theory proposing that the merger may involve the ancient bond between Sukuna and Yuji dating back to the Heian era, as well as the mysterious whereabouts of the powerful sorcerer Yuki Tsukumo. These elements could hold the key to understanding the true nature of the merger.
This article includes spoilers for the series, so please be aware.
New theory suggests that Yuki Tsukumo could have a pivotal role in the finale

According to this theory, Yuki did not perish in her battle against Kenjaku, but rather was absorbed by Tengen. This is evident in the conversation between Yuki and Tengen before Kenjaku’s arrival, where Yuki mentions being able to hear the Star Plasma Vessels that Tengen had absorbed, as she is one of them. This supports the idea that they are both still alive, even though Tengen may no longer exist in a physical form.
According to the theory, Yuki intended to defeat Kenjaku by creating a black hole, but although her body was never discovered, it was believed that she perished in the attempt. However, it is not possible for black holes to absorb living beings. This suggests that Tengen may have taken advantage of the situation and absorbed Yuki, as stated by Suguru Geto during his conversation with Riko Amanai in the Hidden Inventory arc. He claimed that if a person is weak enough and comes into contact with the Star Plasma Vessel’s barrier, they will be absorbed.
Despite the possibility that Yuki may still reside within Tengen and potentially have an impact on the merger between Riko and the other Star Plasma Vessels, it remains unconfirmed. Furthermore, the occurrence of the merger in the story is not guaranteed, as per most theories.
Additional Information About the Theory
The theory also takes into consideration a popular topic among the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom – the idea that Yuji Itadori, the reincarnated twin of Sukuna from the Heian era, plays a significant role. This is supported by the fact that Kenjaku possessed a Shinbutsu Mummy resembling Sukuna, leading many to believe that it is in fact Yuji. However, as Yuji did not undergo the transformation to become a Shinbutsu Mummy, it is possible that he has a twin, providing a possible explanation for Sukuna’s animosity towards him.
It is important to note that, as revealed by Kenjaku, Sukuna had already initiated the “ritual of succession”before his death, as the King of Curses devoured Tengen. Although Megumi Fushiguro is currently in control of the merger, Sukuna is currently manipulating his body. However, if the former were to resist, this could potentially impact the outcome of the final act.
The significance of Yuji being Sukuna’s reincarnated twin is evident in Jujutsu Kaisen, where twins are viewed as a single entity, as seen through the example of Maki and Mai Zen’in. This suggests that Yuji may have control over the merger, and the impact of Yuki, Riko, and the other Star Plasma Vessels could play a crucial role in the conclusion.
Reflections
This Jujutsu Kaisen theory proposes that Tengen assimilated Yuki Tsukumo, indicating that she remains alive along with the other Star Plasma Vessels. If it is confirmed that Yuji Itadori is Sukuna’s twin from the Heian era, it implies that he may have control over the merging process since twins in the series are considered as a single entity in terms of Cursed Energy.
