On October 23rd, a new video titled “Shocking Exclusive! Why Child Support? The Turbulent Divorce Tale of Yulhee and Choi Minhwan” was released on Lee Jin-ho’s YouTube channel, “Entertainment President Lee Jin-ho” .
During the video, Lee Jin-ho highlighted that conflicting daily routines and differing educational philosophies were key factors leading to their separation. Yulhee, who previously discussed her strong commitment to education on a couple counseling show, invested a staggering 8 million won monthly in educational costs. However, she faced challenges with her morning routine and the demands of caring for their children. Consequently, Choi Minhwan took on the primary role of transporting the kids to school, with help from his parents during his performance commitments.
Lee Jin-ho shared that the pandemic played a crucial role in the deterioration of their relationship. With F.T. Island’s activities reduced due to COVID-19, their financial situation suffered, while Yulhee became increasingly occupied with her influencer career, resulting in escalating tensions at home. The situation intensified when Yulhee decided to leave for four or five days, which further fueled their conflicts.
At one point, Lee Jin-ho expressed his confusion regarding Yulhee’s departure. He initially believed that their relationship had taken a turn for the better upon her return, but he was soon met with the news of their divorce.
Recently, Yulhee shared her thoughts on the divorce during an appearance on TV Chosun’s “All By Myself.” She clarified that she was not the one to initiate discussions about the separation. Reflecting on their early marriage, she nostalgically remembered the joyful moments and remarked, “If it weren’t for the children, I often wonder if I would have ever smiled in my life.” Yulhee revealed that their relationship began to falter around their fourth anniversary, and the divorce felt sudden. She admitted to experiencing a prolonged period of emotional pain before ultimately accepting the end of their marriage, sharing her sorrow during the discussion.
Lee Jin-ho further explained that Yulhee voluntarily relinquished custody of their children for “financial and practical reasons,” a choice facilitated by Choi Minhwan and his parents’ devoted involvement in child-rearing.
Lee Jin-ho noted that Choi Minhwan has agreed to flexible visitation arrangements, allowing the children to spend time with Yulhee whenever possible. Furthermore, Minhwan opted not to request child support during the divorce proceedings, and Yulhee willingly gave up her rights to any division of their assets.
Choi Minhwan and Yulhee tied the knot in 2018 and welcomed one son and twin daughters before finalizing their divorce in December of the previous year after five years together. Choi Minhwan currently has custody of their three children and is featured on KBS2’s “The Return of Superman” , while Yulhee navigates single life on “All By Myself” .
