Yulhee Takes Legal Stand Against Online Harassment
On November 22, renowned social media influencer Yulhee announced her decision to initiate legal proceedings against malicious commenters during a recent vlog on her YouTube channel, Yulhee’s Home. The video, aptly titled VLOG: Living Simply and Busy These Days, addressed the distressing surge of online harassment she has faced.
Legal Action Prompted by Escalating Harassment
During the video, Yulhee stated, “I’m heading to a meeting regarding the lawsuits against malicious commenters.” She elaborated on her longstanding understanding that public figures encounter a range of opinions. However, she noted, “The recent wave of hateful comments made me realize that ignoring them has only led to more severe attacks.” This escalating situation has galvanized her to pursue legal recourse.
Highlighting the difference between constructive criticism and harmful attacks, Yulhee emphasized, “While some may disagree with my choices, personal attacks and acts of sexual harassment have crossed a line. It is essential to confront such malicious behavior through legal channels.”
Community Support and Collective Action
In the video, Yulhee expressed her gratitude to those who have supported her by reporting abusive comments. “Many people are forwarding reports to my company email, and I’ve received numerous direct messages. It is time to take a stand against these issues seriously,” she remarked.
Context of Personal Struggles
Yulhee’s legal challenges come on the heels of her divorce from Choi Minhwan, a member of the popular band FT Island, in 2022. The couple shared three children, and after their separation, Yulhee publicly addressed the alleged reasons for their split, including claims of inappropriate behavior on Minhwan’s part, which she described as sexual harassment in the presence of his family.
In the wake of these accusations, Minhwan has suspended all public engagements due to intense backlash. Meanwhile, Yulhee is pursuing further legal action for custody and property division.
