Yulhee Responds to Choi Minhwan’s Baseless Accusations with Plans for Additional Legal Action

On January 15, representatives for Yulhee issued a firm statement, declaring that the assertions made by Choi Minhwan were “completely false.”

Choi Minhwan had previously made controversial claims on January 13, attributing the couple’s separation not to his own visits to adult entertainment establishments, but rather to Yulhee’s alleged lifestyle choices. He accused her of an extreme sleep schedule, citing she reportedly slept between 18 to 20 hours each day, thereby neglecting her responsibilities as a parent, and often leaving home at night.

In response, Yulhee contested these allegations, asserting that the idea of sleeping for 20 hours daily was nonsensical. She expressed that Choi Minhwan’s heavy drinking and frequent visits to entertainment venues were the source of significant stress in her life. Furthermore, Yulhee clarified that her visits to her parents’ house amid marital disputes should not be misconstrued as “running away.”

Amidst these developments, Yulhee is reportedly contemplating legal measures for potential violations concerning family litigation laws. As noted in Article 10 of the Family Litigation Act, it is illegal to publish identifiable details or images of individuals involved in family court matters through various media, including newspapers and broadcasts.

On the same day as her rebuttal, Yulhee took to her social media account to share a glimpse of her attending the play “Red Leaves.” The theatrical production, inspired by Thomas H. Cook’s novel, tells the compelling story of Eric Moore’s son, Jimmy, who is implicated in the mysterious disappearance of their neighbor, Amy.

Choi Minhwan and Yulhee first tied the knot in 2018, welcoming three children—a son and two daughters—before their divorce in 2023, following which custody of the children was granted to Choi Minhwan.

Notably, during their marriage, Yulhee had accused Choi Minhwan of routinely visiting entertainment venues and committing acts of sexual harassment against her. Although Choi Minhwan faced investigation regarding these allegations, the police ultimately dismissed the case due to a lack of sufficient evidence.

In the previous year, Yulhee filed for mediation against Choi Minhwan, seeking considerable financial compensation that included 100 million won in alimony, 1 billion won for property division, and monthly child support of 5 million won.
