As fans might recall, by the conclusion of the Demon Slayer manga, Muzan Kibutsuji is defeated, and both Nezuko and Tanjiro, who had been transformed into demons, revert to their human forms. This raises questions about the fate of all demons in the series. Were they all killed or returned to being human? Specifically, does Yushiro, Lady Tamayo’s assistant, return to humanity at the end of the Kimetsu no Yaiba manga?
The answer is no. Yushiro does not turn back into a human in the Demon Slayer manga. While it’s true that the death of Muzan Kibutsuji led to the end of all demons he created, Yushiro is a notable exception. He was not created by Muzan but rather by Tamayo. For Tanjiro and Nezuko, their transformation back to human was made possible due to the antidote developed by Lady Tamayo, the last of which was administered to Tanjiro.

What happens to Yushiro at the end of the Demon Slayer manga?
At the end of the Demon Slayer manga, Yushiro becomes the last known survivor of the demon race and gains fame as a painter under the name of Yushiro Yamamoto.
Three months post the clash with Muzan Kibutsuji, Yushiro paid a visit to Tanjiro at the Butterfly Mansion. During this encounter, he expressed that Tanjiro was fortunate that Kanao had a spare vial of the antidote to save him and commended Tanjiro for his bravery during the fight.
After witnessing Tanjiro’s emotional reaction and humble response to the praise, Yushiro reconsidered his statement and began to depart. Just before he could exit, Tanjiro urged him not to die, highlighting that as the last living demon, Yushiro was the only one capable of preserving Tamayo’s legacy.
This remark clearly resonated with Yushiro, causing him to pause and reflect before leaving the mansion, never to be seen again. It was only later, in the “modern-day”epilogue, that the manga provides insight into Yushiro’s journey.
Taking Tanjiro’s words to heart, Yushiro dedicated himself to keeping Lady Tamayo’s memory alive by creating exquisite paintings of her. His artworks received widespread acclaim, earning him the status of a world-renowned painter in contemporary times. To maintain his cover and prevent suspicion due to his enduring nature, Yushiro later adopted a pseudonym and operated under the name “Yushiro Yamamoto.”
In conclusion, Yushiro did not revert to humanity in the Demon Slayer manga. In fact, he stands as the last known surviving demon. After heeding Tanjiro’s heartfelt words, Yushiro chose to spend his eternal life crafting art that would ensure Lady Tamayo’s memory endures. This endeavor proved successful, as illustrated by his 812th piece, titled Tamayo with Dark Blue Flowers, which captivated many, including Yoshiteru Agatsuma, who held a profound admiration for Tamayo.
