The manga Jujutsu Kaisen has not fully explored the history of sorcerers in other eras, and Yuta’s ancestry may provide a unique opportunity to delve into this aspect. His connection to characters like Kenjaku has sparked fan theories online, and certain similarities only add to the potential validity of these speculations.
Throughout Jujutsu Kaisen, Kenjaku and Yuta have displayed similar traits that may remind readers of the connection between Yuji Itadori and Ryomen Sukuna, who were eventually revealed to be related. It is interesting to note that Yuta is also related to Satoru Gojo through their shared ancestor, Sugawara. This suggests that there may be other powerful sorcerers who are connected to Yuta as well.
Despite being just fan speculation at the moment, there is a certain logic to the possibility of these two characters being related, particularly when taking into account Kenjaku’s actions throughout the centuries as he has repeatedly switched bodies.

Explaining the Possible Connection Between Kenjaku and Yuta in the Jujutsu Kaisen Manga
Despite not being biologically related, Yuta and Kenjaku are often assumed to share a familial connection due to their similar abilities in acquiring other people’s Cursed Techniques. In the story, they are the only ones capable of storing these techniques from others, unless they possess a rare biological trait like Yuji Itadori.
It had been alluded to in previous chapters that Yuta may have connections to the two dominant clans of the Heian era, Fujiwara and Sugawara. Given this information, it is reasonable to assume that Kenjaku was aware of Sukuna’s identity and that Yuta may also be a member of one of these influential clans, as his true name has yet to be disclosed.
Kenjaku, who has been taking over bodies for centuries, has shown a dismissive attitude towards Yuta, similar to Sukuna’s treatment of Yuji. It was later revealed that Yuta and Sukuna are related, and they both hold the title of second strongest in their respective eras. It makes sense that Kenjaku would target someone from one of the most powerful clans to possess, given his history of body takeover.
Significance for the Narrative
Despite the potential for further exploration of Kenjaku and his actions over the centuries, the main obstacle for the progression of the story in Jujutsu Kaisen remains Yuta’s killing of Kenjaku. With the latter now absent from the manga, his absence would have minimal impact. While delving deeper into Kenjaku’s past may have been intriguing, ultimately his death presents a roadblock for the story’s advancement.
On the flip side, some argue that author Gege Akutami may use this as an opportunity to introduce fresh elements and plot twists, similar to how he revealed Yuji’s connection to Sukuna. Ultimately, it is the author’s prerogative to decide, but at the moment, it appears unlikely that this theory will be confirmed.
Final thoughts
It is possible that Yuta and Kenjaku are related in Jujutsu Kaisen, but this seems improbable at this time. This is because Yuta was the one who defeated Kenjaku, making it unlikely that they share a familial connection. As a result, this plot development may not make much sense or play a significant role in future events.
