Zhu Yuan in Zenless Zone Zero
The first character from the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team to debut in Zenless Zone Zero is Zhu Yuan, who also serves as their leader. Starting on July 24, 2024, she will be featured in her own limited-time banner.

Zhu Yuan Abilities Explained
- The command Don’t Move! (Basic Attack) allows Zhu Yuan to unleash a combination of martial arts, bullets, and Ether Buckshots in a sequence of up to five strikes, causing both Physical and Ether damage. Each time the 4th or 5th hit connects with an opponent, Zhu Yuan gains an Enhanced Shotshell. Additionally, while executing this move, Zhu Yuan can activate Dash Attack: Firepower Offensive and rotate to face a desired direction. While in Assault Mode, holding down Basic Attack will switch to Suppressive Mode.
- Resistance Not Advised (Basic Attack) – Execute up to three Shotshell attacks with piercing capabilities, inflicting Physical DMG. If Zhu Yuan possesses Enhanced Shotshells at the time of firing, one will be consumed, causing significant Ether DMG. This skill also enables the use of Dash Attack: Overwhelming Firepower by dragging the joystick and readjusting the direction. While in Suppressive Mode, releasing the Basic Attack will switch back to Assault Mode.
- Tactical Detour (Dodge) – A rapid dodge that makes Zhu Yuan invulnerable.
- Firepower Offensive (Dash Attack) – Uses handgun to attack, dealing Physical DMG.
- Overwhelming Firepower (Dash Attack) – Unleashes a Shotshell piercing attack, dealing Physical DMG. If Zhu Yuan has Enhanced Shotshells when firing, one Enhanced Shotshell will be consumed, dealing massive Ether DMG.
- Fire Blast (Dodge Counter) – Shoots enemies in front with an Ether Buckshot, dealing Ether DMG. Character is invulnerable while using this skill.
- Buckshot Blast (Special Attack) – Shoots Ether Buckshots that deal Ether DMG. This can be repeated three times by repeatedly pressing Special Attack. Anti-Interrupt level is increased while using this skill.
- Full Barrage (EX Special Attack) – Shoots a series of Ether Buckshots that explode and deal massive Ether DMG. Upon activation, gain three Enhanced Shotshells. Character is invulnerable while using this skill.
- In Eradication Mode, also known as Chain Attack, a Modified Master Firearm is utilized to unleash a concentrated assault of lasers and seeking missiles, inflicting significant damage with Ether. This mode also grants the user three Enhanced Shotshells upon activation.
- The Max Eradication Mode (Ultimate) utilizes a Modified Master Firearm to launch a concentrated assault, unleashing a barrage of lasers and homing missiles that inflict significant Ether damage. This mode also grants three Enhanced Shotshells upon activation.
With his S-Rank Ether Attack abilities, Zhu Yuan is a valuable addition to any team. Currently, the only other Ether unit available in the game is Nicole, making Zhu Yuan an essential choice for tackling formidable adversaries.
Remember that Zhu Yuan’s kit is derived from the knowledge we gained from her during the Closed Beta Tests. Thus, there may be minor adjustments when she officially makes her debut in Zenless Zone Zero.

Mindscape Cinema
- Quick Reload (C1) – Whenever Zhu Yuan triggers a Chain Attack/Ultimate, she will receive the Quick Reload effect. This effect will be consumed if Zhu Yuan runs out of Enhanced Shotshells, instantly granting her 6/9 additional Enhanced Shotshells.
- In Suppressive Mode, Ether Ember (C2) enhances Zhu Yuan’s Anti-Interrupt level and reduces the amount of damage taken by 10%. Additionally, when Zhu Yuan hits an enemy with Enhanced Shotshells, the target will suffer 10% more Ether damage from Basic Attack: Please Do Not Resist and Dash Attack: Overwhelming Firepower. This effect can stack up to five times and lasts for 5 seconds. Each shot adds one stack and the duration resets with each subsequent trigger.
- The Public Security Special Training (C3) increases basic attack, dodge, assist, special attack, and chain attack levels by +2.
- Ether Perforation (C4) – When Zhu Yuan successfully strikes an opponent with Enhanced Shotshells, her Basic Attack: Please Do Not Resist and Dash Attack: Overwhelming Firepower will ignore 25% of the target’s Ether RES.
- The C5 Special Ops Experience includes a proficiency in Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack, with a level increase of +2.
- Expanded Energy Pack III (C6) – After consuming a total of 12 Enhanced Shotshells, Zhu Yuan will gain the Ether Afterglow effect. This will reduce the Energy cost of her next EX Special Attack by 30. Once the EX Special Attack is launched, the Ether Afterglow will be consumed and an extra 4-bullet Ether Buckshot will be fired. Each additional bullet will deal DMG equal to 220% of Zhu Yuan’s ATK.
