1923 Cast Talks Potential Dutton Baby for Spencer and Alex in Season 2

Fans of the popular series 1923 can anticipate its second season launching in February. Recently, stars Brandon Sklenar and Julia Schlaepfer addressed some of the most intriguing theories regarding the show’s future, particularly surrounding their characters’ romantic journey.

Sklenar portrays Spencer Dutton, and Schlaepfer plays Alexandra. In the inaugural season of this Yellowstone prequel, these two characters share a fateful encounter in Africa. While Alexandra is set to marry someone else, Spencer is engrossed in adventurous lion hunting—an experience far removed from his cattle-wrangling roots in Montana.

As their relationship blossoms, the couple finds themselves entwined in a whirlwind romance eventually culminating in marriage aboard a ship. When probing Schlaepfer about the significance of Alex’s seasickness, she was deliberately vague.

“Listen, Alex and Spencer went through a lot in Season 1. She’s been through it. I can’t say where that sickness comes from or if, you know, I even found out what that sickness is from,” Schlaepfer shared with TVLine. “But I do believe them being on so many ships, and so many shipwrecks, I would imagine she’s feeling pretty unwell.”

When exploring whether Spencer’s character would be driven by the revelation of a potential pregnancy, Sklenar responded with enthusiasm:

“I think that he would. It would motivate him, you know? He’s really on a path of wanting to have a life with her and have her at the ranch, and he definitely has to have children one day — because he has purpose, and he has something to live for, and he’s just really hooked into that purpose, you know? So, anything that would further fuel that, I think he’d be fully accepting and embracing of it.”
