On June 25th, YG Entertainment released a statement regarding the speculation of a potential meeting between 2NE1 and YG’s executive producer Yang Hyun-suk. The statement clarified that at this time, there is no official confirmation of such a meeting.
According to a report by OSEN, a meeting is scheduled in the next few days between four members of 2NE1 and producer Yang Hyun-suk to discuss plans for the group’s comeback project.
According to sources within the K-pop industry, CL, the leader of 2NE1, recently had dinner with Yang Hyun-suk. YG, in response to the reports on May 17th through Newsen, stated that they were unable to verify the specifics of the meeting as it was not an official representation of the company.
On May 17th, 2NE1 commemorated their 15th debut anniversary. To mark the occasion, CL shared a group photo featuring Sandara Park, Park Bom, and Minzy on her social media. Fans were filled with hope and anticipation for a potential group reunion and comeback. This photo was the second time the full team had taken a group photo together, following their appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2022.
After debuting with YG Entertainment, 2NE1 rose to become one of the most renowned K-pop idol groups, thanks to their chart-topping tracks including “Fire” , “I Don’t Care” , “Try to Follow Me” , “Clap Your Hands” , “It Hurts” , “You And I” , “Lonely” , “Comeback Back Home” , “I Am The Best” , “Missing You” , “Gotta Be You” , and more. In November 2016, the group disbanded and its members gradually left YG to join different agencies.
