Popular streamers Valkyrae and Cinna have had to suspend their much-anticipated week-long streaming marathon due to devastating fires sweeping through the Los Angeles area.

On January 6, a brush fire ignited in Southern California’s Pacific Palisades neighborhood, rapidly consuming over 500 acres of land between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The fire’s intensity has only escalated since then, with additional outbreaks around Malibu and Santa Monica.

The destructive blazes have tragically led to the loss of numerous homes, historic sites, and other structures. A significant factor in the fire’s relentless spread has been the “hurricane force winds” that hit the Los Angeles area on January 7, exacerbating an already dire situation.

As a result of the fires, several notable content creators, including shroud and Cash Nasty, have been forced to pause their projects and evacuate their residences.

Streaming Marathon Postponed Amidst Palisades Fires

The streaming community is feeling the impact as Valkyrae and rising Twitch star Cinna announced on January 8 that they must delay their collaborative week-long streaming marathon. Originally designed as a unique broadcast dubbed the “Sisathon,” the event had special guests scheduled, and the duo had gone to the effort of renting and decorating a suitable AirBnB.

However, their plans took an unforeseen turn due to the ongoing fires, as they declared a temporary halt on their marathon until conditions improve. The chosen rental resides within an active fire zone, prompting their decision.

“Unfortunately, we have to reschedule,” Valkyrae stated clearly, reinforcing the necessity of their choice.

“There’s no going around it,” Cinna added, highlighting the gravity of the situation. “Everything is closed. Power’s out. The house is in the danger zone. We cannot risk it.”

“The house is between two different fires,” Valkyrae explained further. “It’s crazy.”

As of now, there’s no definitive date set for the rescheduled “Sisathon,” but both Valkyrae and Cinna have firmly prioritized the safety of their guests and fellow streamers over content creation.

This recent incident is not isolated; it follows other notable streaming events, including IShowSpeed’s uninterrupted gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2, which concluded with an emotional moment where he lauded the game as the “best of all time.”
