5 Memorable Jujutsu Kaisen Characters (& 5 Forgettable Ones)

Gege Akutami ensured that the characters in Jujutsu Kaisen were unforgettable. As a result, the series has introduced numerous characters that will stay with the audience for a long time.

Despite the sheer number of anime characters, it is their ability to leave a lasting impression on the audience’s psyche that makes them truly memorable. Take, for example, Light from Death Note or Eren from Attack on Titan – these characters stood out for their one-of-a-kind qualities and impact on viewers.

Despite the fact that many characters from Jujutsu Kaisen are memorable, there are some who may not be as distinct and will not be ingrained in fans’ memories forever. Characters such as Gojo and Itadori will always be cherished by fans, while others like Atsuya and Panda may fade from the general fandom’s recollection over time.

Satoru Gojo

Undoubtedly, Gojo Satoru is the most beloved character in Jujutsu Kaisen. His popularity stems not from his charm or strength, but from his intricately crafted character design.

From a young age, Gojo’s childhood was marked by hardship as he constantly lived in fear of being targeted by bounty hunters. Tragically, he was forced to take the life of his closest friend. As the sole anti-authoritarian presence in the anime, he stands against all forms of authority.

Despite being the strongest, Gojo hides his struggles behind a facade of carefree immaturity in the anime. He works tirelessly to create a safer environment for the younger generation to thrive in. This duality in his character sets him apart and makes him one of the most intriguing characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.

2) Characters in Jujutsu Kaisen: Sukuna/Itadori

While Gojo embodies the ultimate symbol of light with his divine aura, Ryomen Sukuna serves as the ideal emissary of darkness. It is common for anime to feature morally ambiguous antagonists in order to evoke a sense of sympathy.

Despite being the complete embodiment of evil, Sukuna remains the ultimate villain without any trace of guilt or mercy. In Jujutsu Kaisen, he had been using Itadori as his vessel until he took over Megumi’s body.

Surprisingly, as events unfold, Yuji gives in to his darkness in order to gain more power. While these newfound abilities allow him to confront Sukuna, they also blur the line between himself and the “King of Curses”. Sukuna/Itadori remains one of the most memorable characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Nanami’s Story

Among the many characters in Jujutsu Kaisen with supernatural abilities and the weight of duty and moral codes, Kento Nanami stands out as a Sisyphean figure, offering a relatable perspective for the audience.

Even though Nanami was a Rank 1 Jujutsu sorcerer, he chose to become a salaryman after graduating from Jujutsu High. He holds the belief that the sorcerer’s path is filled with death.

Despite his existential boredom and apathetic attitude, his unusual caring nature shines through and adds to his memorability. Additionally, his desire for a simple life free from guilt and his tragic demise deeply resonates with the audience, solidifying his status as one of the most memorable characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Toji Fushiguro

Toji Fushigoro appears to be a character who is trapped in a supernatural world without possessing any supernatural abilities. Despite this, he has turned his disadvantage into strength and sought revenge against the Jujutsu sorcerers who discriminated against him for his lack of cursed energy.

Despite his limited screen time, Toji’s character serves as a scathing commentary on the toxic dynamics of the jujutsu world and the damaging effects of greed for power and wealth. Despite his brief appearances, he captivated viewers with his powerful presence and is sure to leave a lasting impression as one of the most memorable characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Zenin Maki

Maki Zenin, much like Toji, lacks any cursed energy. She inherits Toji’s legacy and ultimately brings about the downfall of the Zenin clan. She is undoubtedly one of the most powerful individuals in the anime.

Initially, unlike the majority of female characters in shonen manga, she stands out for her confidence and abilities. Following the loss of her twin sister, she undergoes a transformation that imbues her with a formidable and intimidating aura.

Similarly to Toji, she embodies the unyielding determination and unwavering ambition of the human spirit. Additionally, her crucial role in the story solidifies her as one of the standout characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Five Jujutsu Kaisen characters we’ll forget as soon as the manga ends

Utahime

Utahime Iori, a semi-grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer, was once a student at Jujutsu High. Despite having limited screen time, her character does not play a major role in the overall narrative of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Despite being a teacher at the Jujutsu High School, she has had no significant involvement in any battles, unlike Mei Mei or Yuki. Additionally, she was not present during Gojo’s unsealing, even though her students were. She is merely one of the many filler characters who will eventually be forgotten once the manga and anime come to an end.

2) Kusakabe

Although Atsuya Kusakabe possesses a resilient persona, he is still recognized by Gojo and Mei Mei as the strongest grade-1 Jujutsu sorcerer. He displays strategic thinking and is willing to make sacrifices, even putting himself in danger, to ensure the success of his team in battle.

Despite his noteworthy qualities, he struggles to make a significant impact on the audience and his ranking in the popularity polls is less than desirable. Furthermore, if he were to be absent from the main storyline of the anime, it is likely that fans would eventually forget about him.

3) Space

Despite being a formidable enemy, Uraume is primarily recognized as Sukuna’s servant. Their role is not as crucial as that of Mahito or Kejaku, who have a more direct impact on the story.

Although possessing great strength, Uraume’s only notable contribution was aiding Kenjaku in sealing Gojo Satoru and resurrecting Sukuna. As the Jujutsu Kaisen character roster grew, Uraume gradually faded into the background and was no longer the focus of fan attention.

4) Endangered Species: Panda

Panda, a student at Tokyo Jujutsu High and classmate of Maki, Yuta, and Inumaki, has been present in all significant events of the anime since season 1 up until the Culling Game arc.

Despite being a major supporting character, Panda remains in a supporting role throughout the narrative of Jujutsu Kaisen. While he may not have a dominant presence, he is still a cursed corpse.

Despite his popularity among Jujutsu Kaisen characters, mostly due to his humor, Panda is not a character that will be easily forgotten. Similar to Kusakabe, Panda may also be overlooked by fans of Jujutsu Kaisen in the future.

Gakuganji

It is likely that the audience’s most vivid memory of Gakuganji is his clash with Gojo. Gakuganji holds the position of principal at “Kyoto Jujutsu High”and is a prominent figure among the upper ranks of the sorcerer society.

If Gojo Satoru represents the anti-authoritarian stance in the anime, then Gakuganji is portrayed as a staunch advocate for traditional authoritarianism. He disapproves of Gojo’s unorthodox methods and frequently voices his discontent with his choices.

Despite having limited screen time and minimal impact on the overall narrative, he remains one of the many supporting characters in Jujutsu Kaisen and is likely to fade from memory once the manga concludes.

To Conclude

Jujutsu Kaisen is renowned for its superbly developed characters. While every character is distinctive, there are certain Jujutsu Kaisen characters that have truly remarkable and unforgettable character designs.

Not only do characters such as Gojo, Sukuna, and Nanami play a crucial role in the plot, but their distinct personalities make them unforgettable. As a result, it is highly improbable for fans to replace them or forget their impact on the story.

Despite their importance to the plot, characters like Panda and Uraume have generic character designs. As a result, seeing similar characters in other anime may cause them to be forgotten by the audience.
