5 My Hero Academia Storylines that Came to a Definitive End

1) The Todoroki Family’s Storyline

The Todoroki family’s plotline was a significant and captivating aspect of My Hero Academia. It depicted the tragic fates of each Todoroki family member, all of whom were affected by Enji Todoroki, also known as Endeavor, and his relentless pursuit of becoming the top-ranked hero.

Despite the significant difference in power between him and All Might, Endeavor was fixated on producing an heir who could potentially surpass the Symbol of Peace in the future. However, this unreasonable and nearly impossible goal ultimately resulted in him inflicting physical and emotional harm on his own family.

From their first encounter, Himiko Toga felt drawn to Ochako Uraraka and a sense of familiarity with her. However, as they continued to clash, Himiko eventually let go of her initial fondness for Ochako, believing she was simply a product of her parents.

During the Final War arc, Ochako continuously attempted to make contact with Himiko. Despite sustaining a life-threatening injury, she persisted and openly expressed her genuine emotions to Himiko, even offering to give her all of her blood.

Following an intense interaction, Ochako affectionately referred to Himiko as ‘the most adorable girl in existence’, prompting the latter to selflessly give up her life to protect the former. While her destiny remained uncertain for a while, the epilogue eventually revealed the official confirmation of Himiko Toga’s death on the battlefield.

3) The Redemption of Tomura Shigaraki

For a long time, there has been speculation among fans about whether Tomura Shigaraki, a villain known for his wickedness and destruction, could ever be redeemed. Thankfully, the conclusion of Shigaraki’s character development has given a clear answer to this question.

Despite All For One’s attempt to take over his body and effectively erase him, Shigaraki managed to survive with the assistance of Nana Shimura, thanks to Deku’s hard work in eradicating all the hatred in his heart. Together, they defeated All For One and Shigaraki urged his rival to give it his all in the upcoming new world.

Since his debut in the U.A. Sports Festival arc, Hitoshi Shinso has gained a huge following among both fans and Class A students. Shoto Aizawa disclosed that he had taken Shinso under his tutelage and was helping him develop his Brainwashing Quirk, with the goal of fast-tracking his entry into the Hero Course.

In the epilogue of My Hero Academia, it was announced that Hitoshi Shinso had officially become a member of Class A during his second year, taking the place of Yuga Aoyama. This news brought joy to both his fellow students and fans alike.

In a shocking turn of events, it was discovered that Yuga Aoyama from Class A had been working as a double agent for All For One. This revelation was the driving force behind the League of Villains’ previous attacks on U.A. High, making it one of the darkest moments in the series.

Despite the initial doubt and mistrust towards Aoyama, after fans and classmates learned about his backstory, they sympathized with him and gave him a chance to earn back their trust. Together, they worked to defeat All For One and Aoyama proved his redemption by giving his all in the final battle. However, he ultimately decided to leave U.A. High and promised his friends that he would regain their trust by becoming a great hero in the future.

Fortunately, Aoyama stayed true to his promise as seen in the final chapter where he worked as a professional hero alongside all his classmates from Class A.

5 Unanswered Plotlines in My Hero Academia by Horikoshi

The Origin of Quirks

One of the biggest enigmas in My Hero Academia revolves around the origin of Quirks. It is widely accepted that the first documented individuals to possess a Quirk were All For One’s mother and a glowing infant born in China. However, the author, Horikoshi, has yet to reveal the true source of Quirks.

Despite the theory proposed by the antagonist Overhaul that Quirks were simply a virus, there was insufficient evidence to support his claim or any other speculation regarding the origins of Quirks. As a result, this continues to be one of the most significant unanswered questions in the series.

2) The Effect of Quirk Singularity on the Hero Society

Dr. Kyudai Garaki proposed the Quirk Singularity theory, which suggests that Quirks will continue to increase in strength with each generation. This may pose a challenge for the human body to adapt to, potentially leading to the eventual extinction of the human race.

After Tomura Shigaraki’s mutation in the Final War arc, it was finally confirmed that this theory was indeed true. His ability to form hundreds of fingers and protect himself through a new form demonstrated the likely result of the human body adapting to Quirks. Despite this confirmation, the potential consequences of this theory and the long-term effects of Quirks on the human body were never further explored.

The Revelation of Izuku Midoriya’s Father

Despite fans’ hopes that the epilogue would finally reveal the answer, the question of Izuku Midoriya’s father remains a huge mystery. While his name is known to be Hisashi Midoriya and his Quirk is an unnamed Fire Breath, little else is known about him. Even after the conclusion of the series, many fans are still disappointed that Horikoshi chose not to unveil the true identity of Izuku’s father.

The dynamic between Izuku Midoriya and Ochako Uraraka

Despite both Izuku and Ochako displaying romantic feelings for each other, fans had anticipated that the two would eventually become a couple by the end of the series. However, to the disappointment of many, Horikoshi ultimately chose to take their relationship in a completely different direction, resulting in the beloved characters remaining just friends.

Despite eventually getting the opportunity to become a hero with his friends once more, it remains uncertain if Izuku will ever have the chance to reunite with Ochako.

The Possible Outcomes for Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki’s Futures

Despite depicting Izuku’s return to heroism alongside Katsuki Bakugo, Shoto Todoroki, and the rest of Class A in the final pages of My Hero Academia chapter 430, readers were left without a clear understanding of the characters’ fates or their individual rankings as heroes.

The possibility of knowing whether Bakugo or Todoroki joined a specific hero agency or established their own agency is uncertain, as it would require Kohei Horikoshi to hold a QnA session and address questions about the conclusion of his series.
