6 Ways Gojo Could Have Returned to Jujutsu Kaisen Less Disturbingly Than What Gege Did

Despite the repeated pleas from Jujutsu Kaisen fans for Gege Akutami to revive Satoru Gojo from death, their wishes were granted in chapter 261 of the manga. However, their initial excitement quickly turned to regret as they read the chapter.

Despite being one of the most shocking and horrifying moments in the series, it was revealed that Yuta Okkotsu had replicated Kenjaku’s Cursed Technique in order to possess his late mentor’s body and return to the fight against Ryomen Sukuna.

Despite there being some fans who were pleased to see Gojo make a reappearance in some capacity, the majority of the fanbase was highly dissatisfied and displeased with this development. Therefore, let’s explore six alternative and less controversial ways that Gojo could have been brought back into the world of Jujutsu Kaisen.

6 Less Disturbing Ways in Which Satoru Gojo Could Have Returned to Jujutsu Kaisen

A Second Reawakening

Satoru Gojo’s return in the Hidden Inventory arc is undeniably one of his most unforgettable moments in Jujutsu Kaisen. Subsequently, he confronted Toji once again and effortlessly emerged victorious in their second encounter.

Despite being in a precarious state when Sukuna sliced him in half, some fans speculated that Gojo would experience another reawakening. If he were to come back from the brink of death once more, it was possible that he would gain a new power capable of countering Sukuna’s World Bisecting Slash.

Rebirth via the concept of North and South

Without a doubt, the most likely method for Gojo’s return was through the concept of navigating the North and South in the afterlife world, which was first mentioned in chapter 236 of Jujutsu Kaisen. It was in this realm that Gojo reunited with his departed comrades.

Kento Nanami was introduced to a concept by Mei Mei, who advised him that heading North would lead to a transformation into a different person, while going South would bring him back to his former self. In essence, this concept of self-reinvention proposed that one could choose to be reborn if they desired to change themselves.

Many fans believed that this concept suggested the possibility of Gojo being reborn in a different form, which could potentially bring him back into the story with a revitalized purpose and enhanced abilities.

Binding Vow

Many fans also speculated that Gojo could make a binding vow and come back from the brink of death, adding to the existing theories.

Jujutsu sorcerers make binding vows with sorcery, either to create conditions for themselves or to make agreements with others. Fans have speculated that Gojo may have also made a binding vow with himself, similar to Sukuna’s, which allowed him to use the World Bisecting Slash and potentially return from death’s door.

Some fans have proposed a theory that Gojo may have sacrificed one of his Six Eyes in order to heal himself.

4) Granny Ogami’s Technical Session

Despite being a powerful technique, Granny Ogami’s Séance Technique was unable to make a significant impact in the ongoing battle against Sukuna. This was due to her not being aligned with the Jujutsu sorcerers or being alive at the time.

Ogami has developed a Séance Technique that allows her to access the body and soul information of a deceased individual by using their corpse. This grants her the ability to transform either herself or a willing participant into that person, as demonstrated during the Shibuya arc when she transformed her grandson into Toji Fushiguro. However, Ogami refrains from summoning the soul information, limiting the shape-shifter to only utilizing the physical abilities of the deceased person.

If Ogami had the ability to transfer both the soul and body information into any of the other Jujutsu sorcerers, it is possible that Gojo could have returned to the story with his powers and personality intact. However, as Ogami died during the Shibuya arc, this theory would only make sense if Gege revealed that Yuta had encountered Ogami in the past and copied her technique.

5) The Technique of Takaba’s Comedy

Despite being unaware of his own abilities, Fumihiko Takaba possesses a power that surpasses both Sukuna and Gojo. His Comedian Technique, which allows him to bring his thoughts to life as long as they are humorous, left even Kenjaku in awe.

If Takaba had been convinced that it would be humorous for Gojo to be resurrected and defeat Sukuna, it could have easily manifested into reality. On the other hand, he could have also vanquished Sukuna single-handedly if he found it amusing. However, not much is known about Takaba’s Comedian ability, except for the fact that it can be rendered ineffective if he doubts his skills as a comedian.

Shoko Ieiri’s healing prowess

Shoko Ieiri is an invaluable asset to Jujutsu High, and for good reason. As the primary doctor of the school, Shoko is highly skilled in using the Reverse Cursed Technique.

Despite not possessing the same level of healing abilities as Sukuna or Gojo, she is one of the few individuals who possess the rare talent of using the Reverse Cursed Technique to heal others. Additionally, she acquired the technique before Gojo, showcasing her exceptional skills.

The most unobtrusive method for Gojo to re-enter the story would have been through his childhood friend healing him. With her extensive medical knowledge and experience, she may have been able to perform a miracle and save Gojo from the brink of death.

Final Thoughts

From various perspectives, it is evident that there were alternative, less unsettling options for Gojo’s comeback in Jujutsu Kaisen that could have been more logically aligned with Gege Akutami’s vision.
