7 Additional Demon Slayer Characters Who Should Have Returned as Demons After Their Death

As any fan of Kimetsu no Yaiba would be aware, many side characters in the manga series meet their demise. While some have a definite resolution, others depart from the series without completing their character development.

Despite the seemingly finality of their deaths, there was still a chance for these characters to return in the Demon Slayer verse. This is because Kibutsuji Muzan had the power to turn them into demons and add them to his army. Therefore, we have compiled a list of seven side characters from Demon Slayer who could have potentially been brought back as demons by Muzan after their demise.

Please be advised that this article contains spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga.

Kyojuro Rengoku and six other characters who should have returned as demons after their death from Demon Slayer

1) Like Ubuyashiki

Despite the fact that Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s death was a crucial moment for manga readers of the series, as he sacrificed himself along with his wife and children to attract Muzan Kibutsuji, it would have greatly enhanced the story if the character had been resurrected as a demon by Muzan.

Initially, the inclusion of this fight would have granted fans the opportunity to witness the demon slayers confront their once-revered leader. Additionally, it would have provided insight into the formidable strength of Ubuyashiki during his peak.

Kyojuro Rengoku

Despite being a side character, Kyojuro Rengoku was highly beloved by fans of Demon Slayer. As a result, his unexpected death deeply impacted viewers who had not anticipated the early passing of the Flame Hashira.

Therefore, if Rengoku had returned as a demon, it would have allowed fans to further appreciate his character. It is worth noting that Upper Moon Demon Akaza had a strong desire for Rengoku to become a demon, which would have seamlessly integrated into the storyline.

Female Demon Slayer

As fans of Demon Slayer will recall, Shinobu Kocho lost her life in the fight against Upper Moon Demon Doma. Although she was willing to sacrifice herself in order to avenge her older sister’s death, the return of the Demon Slayer side character would have been truly epic.

Despite Shinobu’s death, it was Kanao and Inosuke who ultimately emerged victorious in the battle against Doma. However, it would have been even more thrilling for fans to see them face off against a demonized version of their late mentor, Shinobu Kocho. If she had returned, it would have given viewers the opportunity to witness a showdown between master and apprentice.

Kanae Kocho

Despite their strong bond, Shinobu and her older sister Kanae may have found the possibility of a fight between them exciting.

Therefore, in the event that Muzan Kibutsuji had managed to bring Kanae Kocho back to life as a demon, pitting Shinobu against her transformed older sister would have been an effective setup for the battle against the powerful Upper Moon demon Doma.

Sabito

In the Demon Slayer anime, it was revealed that Sabito, a side character, had died during the final exam to join the Demon Slayer Corps. This tragic event greatly affected his friend Giyu Tomioka, who struggled with the belief that he was not worthy of becoming a demon slayer, let alone a Hashira.

Thus, if Kibutsuji Muzan had somehow resurrected Sabito as a demon, it would have given Giyu Tomioka the chance to reunite with his deceased friend and engage in a one-on-one battle against the demonic version of Sabito.

Gyomei Himejima

Stone Hashira and Demon Slayer side character Gyomei Himejima were renowned as the most physically powerful demon slayer among fans. Although he tragically falls in battle against Kokushibo, his potential return as a demon would have devastated the Demon Slayer Corps.

Such progress would have provided the opportunity for one of the secondary characters in Demon Slayer to showcase their abilities and influence the plot.

Yuichiro Tokito

Years before the main story of Demon Slayer began, Muichiro Tokito’s brother, Yuichiro Tokito, was killed by a demon. This tragic event left Muichiro emotionally numb and unable to process his feelings. However, his outlook changed when he encountered Tanjiro Kamado, whose words helped him overcome his past and find the strength to move forward.

As such, if Yuichiro Tokito were to miraculously come back as a demon, viewers could have witnessed whether Muichiro had truly moved on from his brother’s passing and whether it would continue to affect him in the future.

Here are a few side characters from Demon Slayer who were expected to come back as demons following their demise. In case we have overlooked any, kindly let us know in the comments.
