The characters and their stories are the heart of My Hero Academia, with a cast that rivals even One Piece in size. As the final arc of the series has recently concluded, the focus has shifted towards providing closure for each character through the epilogue chapters.
Despite only just beginning, the epilogue chapters of My Hero Academia have already unveiled the fates of numerous characters. With a few more chapters remaining, fans are eagerly anticipating closure for the rest of the characters in the series.
This article includes spoilers for the My Hero Academia series.
Izuku, Bakugo and Other Characters from My Hero Academia Who Faced Unjust Consequences
Izuku Midoriya
While the defeat of AFO was a collaborative effort, Izuku played a crucial role in achieving it. Although sacrificing One For All to defeat AFO was necessary, there is still much debate among the fandom about whether it was a wise decision. Many fans believe that Deku should not have lost his quirk, considering all he had done to stop AFO.
Despite the anticipation for his father’s appearance in the epilogue, the mystery surrounding Deku’s family remains unsolved. Even in the conclusion of My Hero Academia, Deku still lacks closure compared to other characters in the series.
Katsuki Bakugo
Despite the fact that the majority of U.A. students sustained injuries during the final war, Bakugo suffered the most severe ones. He was on the brink of death and it was only thanks to Edgeshot’s selfless act of using his own body to repair Bakugo’s internal organs that he survived.
Despite his permanent right arm injury, Bakugo is unable to engage in hero work due to the strain it would put on his heart. This, combined with the absence of his rival Deku, makes Bakugo’s situation seem unjust compared to that of other My Hero Academia characters.
Edgeshot: The Quirk and Abilities of a Pro Hero
Among all the characters in My Hero Academia, Edgeshot played a crucial role in Bakugo’s survival. He selflessly used his own body to repair Bakugo’s internal injuries, leaving himself with only a single strand remaining.
Despite the lack of clarity on Edgeshot’s fate in the My Hero Academia epilogue, it is anticipated that he will remain permanently disabled and unable to regenerate his body.
Hawks
Hawks’ character in My Hero Academia is undoubtedly one of the most captivating. His backstory and efforts against the villains ultimately sparked the Paranormal Liberation War. However, his actions also created a sense of mistrust among the heroes, ultimately leading to a devastating conflict.
Despite initially having a captivating character, Hawks was eventually reduced to a minor and insignificant role. After losing his wings to Dabi’s flames, he resorted to using prosthetics as weapons, only to have his quirk later stolen by AFO. Among all the characters in My Hero Academia, Hawks stands out as the one with the most untapped potential.
5) The Endeavor
During his early days, Endeavor was viewed with hostility, but his journey towards redemption was largely successful. He was gradually gaining the same level of recognition as All Might. In the midst of the war, he confronted not only Shigaraki and Dabi, but also a multitude of other formidable villains.
Despite being severely injured and losing an arm towards the end of the war, he is currently attempting to have a conversation with Toya Todoroki. However, he has yet to achieve the level of recognition he had always dreamed of, unlike All Might.
6) Kurogiri’s True Identity
Ever since his debut in the USJ arc, Kurogiri has been considered one of the most captivating antagonists in My Hero Academia. As the story progressed, it was uncovered that Kurogiri was actually a highly advanced Nomu created from the body of Oboro Shirakumo, a dear friend to both Eraserhead and Present Mic.
Despite briefly exploring this plotline and Oboro regaining some control, it was abruptly ended when Kurogiri intervened and retrieved Shigaraki from AFO’s grasp. Unfortunately, Kurogiri sacrificed himself in the process with very little success. Many fans consider Kurogiri’s death to be one of the most unnecessary among the characters in My Hero Academia.
Shoto Todoroki
Ever since the Sports Festival arc, Shoto Todoroki’s story has played a significant role in the overarching plot of My Hero Academia. It served as a means to introduce Endeavor’s character and reveal his dark past, which ultimately led to the emergence of Dabi and a fractured family dynamic. In the final war, Dabi, Shoto’s brother, rose to become one of the most formidable villains.
Despite Dabi’s defeat and some forgiveness from his family, the Todoroki family dynamic remains strained and their storyline remains unresolved.
Yuga Aoyama
The idea of Aoyama being a traitor had been speculated for a significant amount of time before it was finally revealed. While the revelation played a crucial role in the overall plot, it was quickly resolved and his friends were able to forgive him upon understanding his circumstances.
Despite his previous actions, Aoyama showed signs of redemption through his fight against AFO. Therefore, his departure from U.A. High School seems unjustified and excessive, particularly considering his efforts towards redemption.
Concluding Thoughts
The main plot of My Hero Academia has concluded and the epilogue has begun. While some fans initially anticipated a brief epilogue, there is now an expectation for a longer conclusion that will tie up loose ends for the majority of the My Hero Academia characters.
Currently, only a handful of characters from My Hero Academia have been referenced in the epilogue. However, it is anticipated that the upcoming chapter will introduce additional characters, beginning with Endeavor. The release date for My Hero Academia’s next chapter is scheduled for June 30, 2024.
