Yes, you read that correctly, a mobile game featuring Sonic in a Battle Royale is currently being developed, with Rovio, the creators of the iconic Angry Birds game, leading the charge. This is not surprising, as it was reported that Sega had acquired the studio for $775 million in 2023.

The highly anticipated game, Sonic Rumble, is a battle royale experience featuring 32 players in the beloved Sonic the Hedgehog world. The objective is to outpace the competition and be the first to reach the finish line, as only one player can emerge as the winner.

In addition to revealing the title of their upcoming project, Rovio also released a gameplay trailer. Despite some initial skepticism and comparisons to “Fall Guys,”their new Sonic adventure has generated considerable interest.

Several gamers promptly pointed out that screenshots from the Sonic Rumble trailer closely resemble the gameplay, color scheme, and visual style of Fall Guys, sparking debate among the community.

In addition to the comparisons to Fall Guys, another notable aspect of Sonic Rumble is its extensive list of playable characters. The game will feature a diverse roster of characters from the franchise, including some lesser-known names and faces from the series. This has been met with positive feedback from fans, as seen in their tweets expressing excitement for the upcoming game.

The cast of characters consists of Tails, Knuckles, Blaze the Cat, Jet the Hawk, Vector the Crocodile, and the ever-popular Sonic.

Although Rovio has not yet confirmed an exact release date, the announcement trailer has promised that the game will be released in the last quarter of 2024.
