Actor Appeals 8-Month Sentence for Sexual Crime in Squid Game Case

The first hearing of the appeal trial for Oh Yeong-su, an actor who starred in “Squid Game”, took place on August 29th.

In November 2022, the actor was sentenced to 8 months in prison for inappropriately hugging an actress, holding her hand, and kissing her cheek. Although he initially denied the charges, he was eventually found guilty in May 2024.

Oh Yeong-su’s legal representative argued that the 8-month prison sentence with 2 years suspension given to the actor was overly severe, considering the fact that he had already faced punishment from the public. The representative also pointed out that Oh Yeong-su had been removed from several acting projects, suggesting that this was a sufficient form of retribution.

Up until now, Oh Yeong-su has also remained prohibited from making any appearances on the KBS channel.

The actor’s next court appearance has been set for October 29.
