A few days ago, HYBE’s official YouTube channel released a documentary about LE SSERAFIM. The documentary featured a scene where Sakura, a member of the group, was shown crying due to the immense pressure and burden she was facing.
In this particular scene, Sakura expressed her fear of speaking loudly in front of others and questioned her decision to become an idol. She pondered if she truly needed to pursue this career and if it was the one she excelled in. At times, when she made mistakes or felt limited, she questioned if someone else who was more skilled could have taken her place.

Regrettably, Sakura faced criticism rather than sympathy for her remarks, as netizens commented with statements such as “Being an idol was her choice, no one forced her”, “After all these years in the industry, she still hasn’t taken vocal lessons”, “It’s expected for idols to receive criticism if they can’t sing”, and “If she had practiced and taken vocal lessons, she wouldn’t have been so scared”.
Furthermore, numerous individuals also begin to draw comparisons between Sakura and aespa’s Ningning, referencing a previous interview with the latter. Specifically, in a 2023 interview, Ningning disclosed that her longest practice session had been 12 hours and that she did not consider it to be difficult as it is her profession.
Although Sakura’s breakdown and lack of improvement were met with disappointment, Ningning’s strong response has received praise and even surpassed 42,000 likes and 2 million views on the SNS platform X, according to a tweet comparing the two.
Despite this, there are still those who defend Sakura by noting that she never actually complained about the long hours, but rather was simply expressing her emotions in response to the hate she received.
