This exciting news was revealed by the anime’s official team alongside a promotional video, following the conclusion of the first season on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. The sequel is set to continue adapting the storyline from volume 4 onwards.

The anime “Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian”is based on the acclaimed light novel series by author SunSunSun and illustrator Momoco. These light novels are serialized by Kadokawa Shoten under the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint, with a total of nine volumes published to date. Additionally, a manga adaptation illustrated by Saho Tenamichi is being serialized on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket app.

On September 18, 2024, the official website and X (formerly Twitter) account for the romantic comedy anime released a 15-second promotional video to confirm the production of Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Season 2. This announcement closely followed the finale of the first season.

The brief video highlights memorable moments from the first season and showcases the enchanting chemistry between Alisa Mikhailvona Kujo, known as Alya, and Masachika Kuze. It also features other characters, including Yuki Suou, Ayano Kimishima, and Maria.

Alongside the announcement video, the official team shared heartfelt comments from SunSunSun, the author of the light novels, expressing gratitude to fans and encouraging them to look forward to Season 2, which will begin adapting from volume 4.

The author’s comments also confirmed that the sequel will include the Summer Vacation arc, showcasing Masachika and Alya participating in various enjoyable events.

The anime’s official X account also unveiled celebratory illustrations from both the manga’s artist Saho Tenamichi and the light novel’s illustrator Momoco. Tenamichi’s artwork features Alya in a traditional Japanese kimono, complete with an obi, as she enjoys bursting crackers with a playful smile, against a picturesque backdrop of a setting sun by the ocean.

In another illustration, Momoco Sensei depicts Alya in her school uniform, cheerfully making a victory sign.

While Season 2 of Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian has been confirmed, the official staff has not yet revealed a release date or specific details regarding the cast and crew for the upcoming season. However, it is anticipated that the original voice cast will return.

In the anime, Sumire Uesaka lends her voice to Alya, while Kohei Amasaki voices Masachika Kuze. Wakana Maruoka portrays Yuki Suou, and Yukiyo Fuji takes on the role of Maria Mikhailovna Kujo.

Ryota Ito directed and penned the scripts for Season 1 at Doga Kobo Studios. Yuhei Murota served as the character designer and chief animation director, while Ryo Kobayashi was credited as the series producer, and Hiroaki Tsutsumi handled music production.
