During Star Wars Celebration, showrunner Tony Gilroy emphasized that Cassian has transformed from simply surviving to fully embracing his role within the Rebellion: “His journey takes him through a series of life-altering experiences. We will follow him and others over the next four years.” He also confirmed that the series will return to the Ring of Kafrene, the setting of Cassian’s introduction in Rogue One.

Chatting with Rolling Stone, Gilroy hinted at the complex challenges ahead: “The next four years focus on leadership within the Rebellion and the alliance’s formation, emphasizing the difficulties faced by those cementing their place in a shifting political landscape.” He also teased significant developments for Mon Mothma, particularly acknowledging the character’s struggles as portrayed by Genevieve O’Reilly.

At the ACE Superhero Comic Con 2024, Luna hinted at appearances by familiar faces from Rogue One, promising exciting revelations that will alter fans’ perceptions of the previous film.
