Apex Legends Patch Notes Surprise: Pros Question Lack of Crypto Nerf

Apex Legends professionals and players are expressing their disappointment that Crypto hasn’t received a nerf in the Space Hunt event, particularly after expectations were set for changes to be made.

With the launch of Apex Legends Season 22, Respawn Entertainment made significant adjustments to Crypto, the surveillance expert introduced in Season 3, who has been considered underpowered for quite a while. The recent updates were intended to enhance his gameplay experience.

One of the major changes allows Crypto to go invisible while using his drone thanks to his Off the Grid ability. Although this ability produces sound when activated, many players have voiced frustration, prompting calls for a necessary nerf from the community.

Alliance player John ‘Hakis’ Håkansson mentioned that developers recognized the strength of Crypto’s invisibility and planned to implement adjustments. However, as it stands, these alterations will not be included in the Space Hunt event, resulting in discontent among some professional players.

“No mozam nerf or crypto nerf,” tweeted Team Falcons star Philip ‘ImperialHal’, accompanied by multiple laughing emojis.

Hal’s analyst with Falcons, Priv4cy, echoed similar sentiments regarding the absence of nerfs. “No Mozam or Crypto nerf,” he remarked, adding a crying face emoji.

Priv4cy also pointed out that Crypto might be adversely affected by the new Ultimate Accelerant changes. “Surely Crypto will suffer from ult accel thing. Bang players are now forced to take the ult cooldown perk,” he commented.

“I wish they’d nerf Crypto so Valk could shine more; the current Crypto with 500m scans provides unpunished information,” stated Complexity coach kapremeee, weighing in.

One frustrated fan noted, “Didn’t expect much from a mid-season patch, but not addressing the Mozams or Crypto’s invisibility feels wrong after what we witnessed at LAN,” referencing community concerns about the current meta.

Several players have indicated that Crypto will continue to be a significant character in the pro meta, suggesting that any nerfs might only occur if his pick rate rises in casual play.

As of now, the community will have to wait and see how Respawn handles Crypto in future updates.
