In a disturbing turn of events for the gaming community, three of Apex Legends’ top players have recently fallen victim to account theft. Hackers gained unauthorized access to their accounts, leading to significant repercussions as EA implemented bans on these profiles, putting their hard-earned progress in jeopardy.

The Apex Legends scene has been tumultuous in recent weeks, with numerous gameplay issues and controversial decisions from developers. However, the latest incident highlights an alarming rise in hacking activities, particularly involving some of the game’s highest-ranked players.

On January 16, 2025, Rogue, renowned as the world’s leading Apex Predator, revealed that his account had been compromised. He wasn’t alone in this unfortunate event; fellow professionals ImperialHal and Sweet also reported that their accounts had been hacked.

Together, they watched helplessly as cheaters exploited their accounts, employing features like auto-aim to eliminate opponents with ease. This led to a quick response, with all three players facing bans just hours later, despite being the victims of this intrusion.

ImperialHal, a highly regarded professional player in the Apex community, now finds himself without access to his account, which is a crucial aspect of his gaming career.

The Impact of Hacking on Top Apex Legends Players

Rogue publicly addressed the situation in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “They are playing ranked, full rage cheating. No shame, pure aimbot, sprinting down lobbies with our accounts.” His message underscored the urgent need for action by developers at Respawn Entertainment, emphasizing that if account sanctions were necessary, it should not affect the actual players who were hacked. “This would mean if they get banned, that is my real account getting banned,” Rogue lamented.

During the time that their accounts were compromised, Rogue and his colleagues continued accumulating ranked game statistics, which poses a considerable threat to Rogue’s standing as the number one player globally.

Within three hours of the hacking incident, Rogue’s worst fears were confirmed as his account was indeed banned, mirroring the fates of both ImperialHal and Sweet, who also lost access to their gaming profiles.

The bans are intended to prevent further damage on the live servers, but there has been no official announcement regarding the restoration of the players’ accounts.
