Apex Legends enthusiasts, get ready! Respawn Entertainment has unveiled the first details of the upcoming Season 26, aptly named **Showdown**, set to launch on **August 5**.While comprehensive patch notes will be shared the day before, we already have insights into the thrilling updates awaiting players.
This season’s highlight is the introduction of **Wildcard**, a new permanent game mode, alongside reworks for fan-favorite Legends, **Bangalore** and **Caustic**.While there won’t be a new Legend this season, players can look forward to an enhanced version of the **RE-45** weapon.
What to Expect in Apex Legends Season 26
Wildcard Mode: Chaos & Speed
Wildcard is the exciting new mode designed for fast-paced, chaotic gameplay. Players will experience streamlined loot deliveries, explosive supply drops, and innovative second-chance mechanics.
Moreover, squads can now team up with three versions of the same Legend while battling it out on a remixed **Kings Canyon**, complete with gravity cannons, ziplines, and dynamic movement systems.

Revamping Legends: Caustic and Bangalore
This season features notable updates for **Caustic**, who now possesses a new **Field Research** ability, offering enhanced damage along with more visually impressive gas effects.
On the other hand, **Bangalore’s** smoke now serves a more offensive purpose: it can breach doors and comes with an EMP upgrade, disabling traps and shocking enemies in the vicinity.

Introducing Amps: New Passive Gear
Players can now discover **Amps** during mid-to-late gameplay, which provides passive enhancements such as infinite ammunition, accelerated healing, and bonus armor, bolstering their survival chances.
Weapon Overhaul: Hop-Ups and the Elite RE-45
In a significant shift, Hop-Ups will now be integrated directly into weapons, needing to be unlocked through in-game achievements. Once activated, these enhancements remain equipped for the duration of the match.
Additionally, the **RE-45** is transformed into an elite weapon, capable of firing **3-round energy bursts** from Ballistic’s impressive arsenal.

Map Update: Daytime E-District
The **E-District** map receives a significant facelift, now featuring a brighter skybox and improved visibility to enhance the overall gameplay experience.
Ranked Mode Enhancements
This season introduces pivotal changes to the ranked structure:
- No more Jumpmaster: Every squad will now have a designated POI Drop Zone to promote fairer starting conditions.
- Ranked Auras: Players will display a visible aura correlating with their rank, with color coding indicating tier levels visible during gameplay.
Accolades System: Recognition of Skills
With the new **Accolades system**, players will receive recognition for standout performances, earning bonus XP post-match for impressive feats such as mid-slide kills and looting numerous bins.
