Apex Legends Season 27, aptly named “Amped, ”introduces a groundbreaking movement update that marks a significant evolution in gameplay. Players can anticipate a complete overhaul of Olympus, featuring four new Points of Interest (POIs), alongside comprehensive modifications to beloved legends such as Valkyrie, Rampart, and Horizon. Additionally, players can experiment with the new Double Tap Hop-Up for the Alternator, enhancing their tactical options.

This season not only revamps gameplay mechanics but also incorporates the innovative Mantle Boost feature, streamlining ledge navigation. Enhancements to Trident controls and the thrilling Supersonic Wildcard event, which includes the first-ever Mythic R-99, further elevate the gaming experience.

Transformative Updates to Olympus

The redesigned Olympus map now boasts four exciting new POIs: Somers University, Gravity Engine, Stabilizer, and Dockyard. These locations have been meticulously crafted to enhance gameplay flow, encourage vertical combat, and improve the safety of rotations. Here’s a quick look at the changes:

Gravity Engine: Replaces Energy Depot and features Branthium-powered lifts and zip rails for enhanced mobility.
Stabilizer: Substitutes Docks, incorporating floating rock paths and ballistic zones for strategic advantage.

According to Senior Level Designer Michael Shannon, the new rendition of Olympus seeks to cultivate skillful gameplay while addressing issues with open spaces. The map takes on a fresh lore perspective, being an alternate version recovered from the snowy planet Pagos, with Horizon spearheading restoration efforts following the crash.

Legend Modifications

Valkyrie: Her abilities have received notable upgrades:

VTOL Jets now recharge three times faster and allow for quicker take-off capabilities.
The Skyward Dive Ultimate features an expedited launch.
Missile Swarm no longer inflicts self-damage, now features enemy scanning, and disables movement passives.

These adjustments not only restore Valkyrie’s aerial combat prowess but also enhance her mobility.

Rampart: The latest updates include:

Amped Cover now evolves with game play, gaining health as Evo levels progress and adding a roof for protection.
Infinite ammo with faster reloads while firing behind cover.
Regenerating reinforced walls during non-combat phases.

This transition allows Rampart to shift from static defense to an effective area control champion.

Horizon: Several improvements have been made to her abilities:

Gravity Lift cooldown has been reduced, and lift speed has increased.
Black Hole Ultimate has received extra health for resilience.
New fast fall and gliding options have been added, along with bonus lift charges after knockdowns.

These enhancements allow Horizon to reclaim her status as a dominant aerial character, providing improved vertical mobility.

Innovative Movement Mechanics

The introduction of the Mantle Boost mechanic facilitates a quicker traversal when climbing ledges, enabling players to close distances with agility. Additionally, Tridents now feature distinct health pools, visible damage indicators, and refined collision handling for a smoother gameplay experience.

Exciting New Features: The Double Tap Hop-Up

The Double Tap Hop-Up enhances the Alternator by enabling simultaneous firing from both barrels, resulting in deadly close-range bursts. According to Weapons Designer Casey O’Brien, this feature is designed to be both “incredibly deadly at close range”and “incredibly fun”to utilize.

Supersonic Event Details (November 18 to December 16)

The Supersonic Wildcard event returns with revamped Olympus features, including additional ziplines and new gameplay upgrades. Players can earn exciting rewards such as:

Mythic R-99: This weapon unleashes Valkyrie’s Missile Swarm after accumulating heat through combat.
Upgrades Include: Burning Rubber (fire trails), Extra Zippy (shield and speed boosts), Eyes in the Sky, Quick and the Dead, Get Up and Go, and Along for the Slide.

Introducing the Amped Battle Pass

Split 1 Premium: Features legendary skins for Valkyrie and Wattson, a Spitfire Legendary weapon skin, 10 Exotic Shards, and a Reactive Sentinel at Tier 60.
Split 1 Ultimate: Includes all Premium rewards plus instant bonuses such as 1200 Crafting Metals and 8 Apex Packs.
Split 1 Ultimate+: This tier adds 10 Battle Pass levels, 10 Exotic Shards, and unlocks all Legends for Split 1 owners, featuring Ultimate+ skin variants for both Valkyrie and Wattson.
