Apple Music Now Allows Spotify Users to Import Songs and Playlists

Apple Music has significantly broadened its playlist transfer capabilities, now available in seven additional countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, and Mexico. This enhancement allows users to seamlessly migrate their playlists from competitive streaming services.

Initially introduced in May for users in Australia and New Zealand, this feature empowers Apple Music subscribers to transfer their curated playlists, saved songs, and albums from other platforms like Spotify. This process is facilitated by SongShift, a reputable third-party service specializing in playlist migration.

To utilize this feature, users can navigate to the “Transfer Music from Other Music Services”option found within Apple Music’s settings or via the web player. Specifically, iOS users will locate the feature under Settings > Apps > Music, while Android users can access it through the settings menu of the Apple Music app.

Understanding Transfer Limitations

While the transfer tool offers extensive functionality, it does come with limitations. It only supports user-generated playlists and does not transfer algorithm-generated playlists, such as Spotify’s Discover Weekly or Release Radar. During the transfer, Apple Music strives to match songs from different platforms. However, any unmatched tracks will be flagged for user review, necessitating manual handling before completing the transfer process.

This recent expansion allows Apple Music to cater to a broader audience, making it significantly easier for subscribers across various regions to integrate their existing music collections into the Apple ecosystem.
