It is anticipated that Apple will unveil a Watch Ultra 3 in 2024.
The Apple Watch Ultra, known for its durability, is released on an annual basis. Based on the numerous reports and rumors, it is likely that a third installment, the Apple Watch Ultra 3, is in the works for a future release.
Despite previous reports indicating that the Watch Ultra 3 may not be released, the most recent rumors indicate that a new Watch Ultra model is expected to debut in 2024.
Possible Release Date for Apple Watch Ultra 3
According to the most recent reports, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to follow its usual release schedule. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from Apple has verified that the 2024 update for the Apple Watch Ultra range is likely to occur.
The two most recent versions of the Watch Ultra were unveiled in September, just in time for the holiday season. If Apple sticks to this pattern, it is possible that the new durable Apple Watch will be revealed alongside the iPhone 16, Apple Watch X, and other products in September 2024 during Tim Cook’s presentation.
Another report contradicts Kuo’s previous statement about Apple’s supply chain ecosystem and proposes that Apple may not release a Watch Ultra in 2024.
Apple’s annual launch event traditionally takes place in mid-September, with pre-orders for new products typically opening a few days afterwards. The upcoming release of the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will follow this pattern, as it will also be available for pre-order upon its announcement. However, the specific dates for pre-ordering will not be disclosed until Apple makes an official announcement.
Expected price for Apple Watch Ultra 3
The initial versions of the Apple Watch Ultra and Watch Ultra 2 were priced at $799, and it is possible that the Watch Ultra 3 will also be released at the same price.
The possibility that the upcoming Apple rugged watch may only provide minor updates, as suggested by reports, adds weight to this argument. Therefore, it is likely that there will be no alteration in the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.
Apple Watch Ultra 3: Rumored Features and Specifications
Despite a few mentions from Ming-Chi Kuo, there is limited information available about the specifications and features of Watch Ultra 3.
According to him, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 may not offer any new features. This suggests that the updates will be incremental at best, with most aspects remaining similar to its predecessor.
Although the addition of a new, stronger chipset and a larger battery would likely be well received, we anticipate that Apple will also provide some form of integration with the Vision Pro headset.
In addition, Apple is anticipated to incorporate life-saving capabilities into the standard Apple Watch Series X. These features encompass Blood Glucose, Blood Pressure, and Sleep Apnea tracking.
The addition of these features would enhance the Watch Ultra 3’s capabilities as a durable health tracking device, as it is specifically designed for individuals participating in extreme sports and can withstand various weather conditions.
Despite rumors of a micro-LED screen boost for the display of the Apple Watch Ultra 3, it appears that these speculations were later disproven, as the Watch Ultra 2 already has a great display. This information was confirmed by a report from TechRadar.
According to speculation, Apple is planning to enhance the Digital Crown on their upcoming smartwatch. The basis for this prediction is a patent filed by Apple which suggests that the Digital Crown may contain added sensors to improve heart rate tracking and provide the ability to navigate menus and activate features with a light tap.
Despite not being targeted specifically for the next-gen Watch Ultra, this leak may still be included in the device’s upcoming iterative updates.
What We Want to See in the Apple Watch Ultra 3
In collaboration with OpenAI and Google, Apple is further prioritizing AI in order to enhance its operating system. As a result, we can anticipate the integration of AI features in WatchOS 11 as well.
We would be thrilled to have a Watch Ultra 3 with a built-in camera, enabling users to capture special moments even without their phone readily available.
The Watch Ultra 2 does not provide any options for choosing the display size, as it is only available in a 49mm variant. Unfortunately, if you are seeking a slightly smaller or larger display, this model may not meet your needs. It is our hope that Apple will introduce a Watch Ultra 3 with at least one additional size option.
