Apple’s Affordable Tabletop Robot: Report

According to a recent report, Apple is currently developing a new tabletop robot for home use. The company plans to launch the robot in 2026, with an estimated price of $1000.

According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, a new product that attaches an iPad-style display to a robotic arm is currently being developed by a team of several hundred individuals.

According to Gurman, Apple Inc. is working on a costly home device that combines an iPad-like screen with a robotic arm in order to generate additional income.

The robot’s display has the ability to tilt up and down and rotate a full 360 degrees. It serves multiple purposes, functioning as a “smart home command center,”a videoconferencing device for FaceTime calls, and a tool for monitoring home security.

According to Gurman, Apple’s vice president of technology Kevin Lynch is leading the project, and sources have revealed that the company plans to release the device in 2026 or 2027. The estimated cost of the device is said to be around $1,000, which is equivalent to the price of the M4 iPad Pro.

The report states that the tabletop robot will utilize Siri and Apple Intelligence, enabling it to efficiently respond to various voice commands, identify different individuals, and automatically orient its display towards whoever is present in the room.

Currently, Apple is conducting tests on the device using an altered version of iPadOS.

Recently, Apple has been experimenting with new consumer electronics. In February of this year, they released their first VR headset, the Vision Pro, and there are reports that they are also developing a more affordable VR headset, the Vision Pro 2.

Despite rumors circulating for much of this decade, it was reported by Gurman in February that Apple has abandoned plans to release an Apple Car. The company reportedly invested over $10 billion in its development, with Kevin Lynch leading the project.
