Arc Raiders Releases Urgent Patch Following Exploit of Hidden Developer Console by PC Players

Embark Studios has promptly addressed a significant issue in ARC Raiders by deploying an emergency hotfix following the discovery of players exploiting hidden developer console commands on PC. This exploit allowed users to gain a considerable competitive edge in live matches, sparking widespread concern within the gaming community.

The root of the problem lay in a launch option, specifically ” -newconsole -log, ” which granted PC players unauthorized access to in-game console settings that were never intended for player use. By utilizing this command, players could dramatically widen their field of view to approximately 120 degrees, disable critical visual elements such as fog and shadows, and in certain instances, reconnect to matches after being eliminated.

As clips demonstrating these advantages began trending on social media, a backlash from console players erupted, particularly affecting those participating in crossplay lobbies. The disparity in gameplay experiences led to an outcry for fair treatment across platforms.

Swift Resolution to Exploit Concerns

Reports detailing the exploit rapidly spread across X, with numerous community posts showcasing videos that highlighted the stark contrast between standard gameplay and the altered visuals enabled by the console commands. By disabling shadows and environmental effects, users were effectively gaining an undue visual advantage over their opponents, including the ability to see through smoke and darkness.

In response to these alarming developments, Embark Studios confirmed on Saturday morning that an immediate fix had been issued. In a statement shared with the Arc Raiders community on Discord, community manager Ossen announced that the team had removed the “NewConsole” command entirely from the game.
