ARC Raiders has recently taken decisive action against some of its most notorious cheaters by implementing permanent bans. This step comes in response to rising public outcry from both players and streamers, signaling a significant shift in the game’s approach to maintaining fair play.

On January 16, details of these permanent bans emerged when prominent streamer THUMP shared screenshots indicating that several repeat offenders had received irreversible account suspensions. The targets of this crackdown include players who have been consistently stream sniping and cheating against high-profile streamers over several months.

Increasing Pressure on Embark Studios

This development follows intense scrutiny placed on Embark Studios, especially after well-known creators such as Nadeshot, Shroud, Ninja, and TheBurntPeanut publicly criticized the game’s inadequate measures surrounding cheating earlier this month. Their voices contributed to the growing demand for stricter enforcement against cheaters.

Transition from Temporary to Permanent Bans

Previously, ARC Raiders’ anti-cheat measures primarily involved temporary suspensions, where first-time offenders faced 30-day bans, escalating to hardware ID bans for repeat offenders. Although these measures were a step forward, many players felt that such penalties merely allowed cheaters to create new accounts and continue their disruptive behavior.

THUMP’s recent screenshots reveal a more stringent stance regarding bans. The in-game notice now reads: “Your account has been permanently suspended for behavior that violates our code of conduct. Due to the severity of your violation, access to your account will not be restored.” This new policy signifies a commitment to addressing cheating more effectively.

Expressing a sense of relief, THUMP stated on X: “Just wanted to let you know that they just banned one of them permanently 30 minutes ago. After a month of them doing nothing, your rant made the difference in them finally taking action.” Further communications in private Discord channels suggest simultaneous bans for multiple users, pointing to a coordinated effort against cheaters.

Cheating Targets: Shroud and Ninja in Focus

During a livestream on January 16, SYMFUHNYY encountered a player who claimed to be connected with one of the recently banned cheaters. This player revealed that prominent streamers, including Shroud and Ninja, had been consistently targeted, highlighting their vocal stance against cheating issues within ARC Raiders.

THUMP characterized the situation further, mentioning that one of the banned players had been stream sniping and targeting streamers to create content for YouTube while the developers appeared to be on vacation.

The Road Ahead for ARC Raiders

While Embark Studios has yet to release an official statement confirming this shift toward permanent bans, the increase in reports and evidence suggests a clear transition in policy. This new approach aims at fostering a healthier gaming environment by clamping down on severe and habitual offenses.

The introduction of permanent bans, alongside previous anti-cheat updates and a patch that eliminated exploitative PC console commands, has been met with approval from many players. For them, decisive actions like these are crucial in ensuring the long-term viability and integrity of ARC Raiders.
