In order to prevent potential save issues caused by a recent patch, Ubisoft has recommended that early access players of Star Wars Outlaws restart the game.
Fans of Star Wars Outlaws who purchased the Gold or Ultimate Edition for $110 and $130, respectively, were granted three days of early access to the adventure before its official release.
Despite some notable flaws, the experience has not been entirely negative. Along with strange gameplay glitches, certain players have been notified by Ubisoft about the possibility of encountering save data problems due to an update.
On August 26, the developers of Star Wars Outlaws released Update 1.000.002 on PS5, which is an 8.5GB patch that addresses bugs and adds a new 40FPS mode.
Following the release of the patch, Ubisoft issued a warning via an email to PS5 users (through IGN) stating that they may encounter problems if they proceed with the pre-patch version.
Players are strongly recommended to ensure that they are using the most recent version and to “begin a new game”in order to fully experience Star Wars Outlaws. The notification states that those who continue with an older version may encounter problems and obstacles in their progress.
Understandably, the recent development has left early access users dissatisfied. According to a fan’s post on Reddit, they were notified about the new patch after playing for five hours in the Outer Rim adventure. The fan expressed frustration, stating that the game was pushing their patience.
Another person added, “That’s terrible. After three hours, I might as well rush through the introduction.”
In a separate Reddit thread, players of Star Wars Outlaws expressed that despite their dissatisfaction with the save issue, the recent patch has greatly enhanced their overall gameplay experience.
A comment shared, “I must admit I was displeased at first, as I lost four hours of work. However, I decided to restart and I am pleased with the outcome. The previous version had many bugs, but now with the update, I have experienced no bugs or graphical issues.”
It should be noted that the concern at hand solely affects PlayStation 5 users, therefore PC and Xbox players need not be concerned.
