Asmongold Critiques “Extremely Frustrating” Ending of Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred

After streaming the DLC for Diablo 4, titled Vessel of Hatred, Asmongold shared his opinions about the conclusion of the story. Spoilers ahead.

Similar to numerous gamers, Asmongold felt confused and disappointed by the ending of Vessel of Hatred, describing it as “mid.” While we won’t disclose the specifics, it’s important to note that the conclusion presents another cliffhanger and acts more as a setup for a broader narrative.

In essence, the finale of Vessel of Hatred raises more questions than it resolves, particularly regarding Mephisto’s destiny and the eventual resurgence of the Prime Evils. Asmongold shares this sentiment.

After finishing the main campaign, Asmongold expressed, “The conclusion was highly frustrating. It didn’t resonate with me at all.” He outlined the final events and voiced strong criticism about how Mephisto’s character was portrayed.

Discussing the DLC as a whole, he mentioned, “There were aspects that were enjoyable, but it definitely declined towards the conclusion.”

“I believe this game should be assessed on its combat mechanics rather than its narrative. I’m okay with a campaign that isn’t enjoyable if the endgame content is engaging.”

When asked how he would rate Vessel of Hatred on a scale of ten, Asmongold stated, “For the campaign? I would give it a 5. It strikes me as somewhat absurd.”

“While the campaign is not the sole element of the story, I don’t dislike it, nor would I label it as poor. However, I wouldn’t classify it as outstanding either.”

It will be fascinating to see the direction Diablo 4 takes moving forward.
