Assassin’s Creed Shadows Early Access Cancelled by Developers Due to Delays

Ubisoft has officially cancelled the early access for Assassin’s Creed Shadows amid significant delays and modifications to the game.

Originally slated for launch on November 15, 2024, the release date has now been moved to February 14, 2025.

Even with this reschedule, fans remain enthusiastic about exploring the upcoming Japanese-themed Assassin’s Creed installment, which promises two protagonist characters and a brand-new world for players to uncover.

Furthermore, Ubisoft has announced that those who pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition will no longer have the opportunity to play the game ahead of its official launch.

During a Discord Q&A session, Ubisoft informed the community about the cancellation of early access, as confirmed by Insider Gaming. Consequently, the price for the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Collector’s Edition has been reduced from $280 to $230.

While most of the items included in the Collector’s Edition are still expected to be delivered, this could change due to ongoing issues around historical accuracy and cultural representation, as noted by Insider Gaming.

Ubisoft stated that the decision to postpone Assassin’s Creed Shadows was made to allow additional time for polishing the game’s quality.

Since this announcement, the development team has faced considerable criticism, with rumors suggesting that Yasuke, one of the featured characters, might be dropped from the game.

However, as we detailed at the start of October 2024, these rumors do not seem credible.

Alongside the concerns regarding Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it was recently disclosed that Ghost of Yotei—the sequel to the popular 2020 title Ghost of Tsushima—is also set to launch in 2025.

Given that both Shadows and Ghost of Yotei take place within similar historical contexts, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will face stiff competition.

The anticipated release date for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is February 14, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
