Pokemon will be debuting its own reality TV series, which will be available to watch on both Prime Video and Roku beginning on July 31.
In 2024, among all the possible announcements that Pokemon TCG fans could have anticipated, a new reality TV show was probably not included on most people’s predictions.
Despite seeming unexpected, it is not uncommon for the Pokemon TCG to have its own show. The popular card game has been featured in the animated series Path to the Peak, as well as a three-part documentary.
The announcement of Pokemon: Trainer Tour left online Pokemon TCG players in awe. A large number of them promptly turned to forums and social media to express their opinions. Despite a few dissenters, there was an overwhelming amount of enthusiasm surrounding the July 31 launch.

A few players were eager to watch the show for the first time. One curious viewer on X shared, “Hmm, this looks pretty intriguing,”while another added, “I can’t wait for the Pokemon Trainer Tour.”
Another person chimed in, stating, “This is incredibly intriguing because I believe it offers a solution to the issue that TCG may not be engaging to watch for those who are not already familiar with it. Essentially, it allows for the inclusion of non-experts and showcases the excitement of the sport.”
As a beginner to trading card games, the Pokemon TCG can seem daunting. However, witnessing others passionately interact with the cards and express their love for the game can serve as encouragement for new players and help them feel at ease within the community.
Some were excited to witness well-known creators hosting the latest show. On the PokeBeach forum, a fan of Pokemon TCG expressed, “Strawburry and Tricky seem to be having a blast. I definitely did not anticipate that!”
Although the announcement was made, it was not received positively by everyone. Some expressed their belief that the VGC community should have been given a show instead of the TCG.
A skeptical player expressed their vision for a fresh series, stating, “I would be interested in an anime set in the Pokemon universe where the plot revolves around the TCG. I don’t want a simple ‘player enjoying themselves at a Local Game Store’ story, but something more akin to YuGiOh or Duel Masters.”
In agreement with the anime recommendation, a frustrated player commented, “It would definitely be more engaging than the lackluster content being produced by ‘content creators’ (it’s disheartening that this is still a thing).”
Regardless of whether you are enthusiastic about the show or unimpressed by the concept, it is intriguing to witness The Pokemon Company’s attempt at something different.
