Baldur’s Gate 3 Fans Think Gale’s “God Ending” Isn’t the Best

Although Gale’s “god ending”is often considered the best, some Baldur’s Gate 3 players believe it might be the worst for him.

The conclusion of Gale’s arc in Baldur’s Gate 3 can end in nearly half a dozen different ways. Still, a group of players want better for Gale, holding out hope that Larian will address their concerns in a future content patch.

But there’s a lot of debate about what constitutes its “best”ending as it currently stands. The character’s ascension to the God of Ambition often comes up in such discussions. In this result, Gale becomes more powerful and gains new confidence.

Comments and such from various characters, however, indicate that not everyone likes Gale as a God. And players seem to think that ascension isn’t doing him any favors either.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Fans Explain Why God’s Ending for Gale Is ‘Bad’

Reddit user Binx_Thackery addressed the topic in a post that gained a lot of traction. They note that throughout BG3, Gale cites a desire to help mortals as the primary reason for his divine ambitions.

Unfortunately, achieving such ends results in Gale becoming a rather detached divine being who admits to “offering nothing to his followers.” According to the Redditor, the “divinity turns him into a self-centered hypocrite.”

Dozens of other Baldur’s Gate 3 players have shared their own thoughts on why Gale’s divine ending isn’t exactly ideal.

One person pointed out, “Gale might have become a god, but it’s in his ‘good’ ending that he actually becomes better.”The user continued, citing the pure joy the character gets from teaching as one of the reasons the “Professor Gale” route is better.

Someone else in the Baldur’s Gate 3 thread commented that divinity only serves to fuel the wizard’s “illusions and self-doubts.”

Another person who agreed with this sentiment argued that “Gale’s ambition is fueled by a lack of self-esteem,” suggesting that his interest in improving at magic stems from the belief that nothing anything else he can offer is of no value. Thus, just like Ascended Astarion, Gale God acquires “a superficial freedom but corrupts himself to achieve it.”

Suffice it to say, the BG3 faithful have deeply considered what is and is not best for Gale Dekarios. It’s no wonder he remains a fan favorite.
