Baldur’s Gate 3 players devastated by detail discovered in Act 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 will stop at nothing to tug at players’ heartstrings, and sometimes you have to dig a little deeper to find the details that bring that emotion. As one player discovered, even a small detail on a tombstone can change the course of your story.

Some scenes in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3 take place in a cemetery, and you can find some interesting things there if you take the time to look around.

While exploring the area, one player discovered that by taking a closer look at a particular tombstone, you might find a detail explaining why Cora Highbay makes it her mission to care for orphans.

Before reading further, please be aware that this article discusses sensitive topics such as child loss and stillborn infants.

“I was reading the headstones at the cemetery and found one that explains a little about Cora’s motivations: ‘Gwynn Hautebaie – Stillborn but not forgotten,'”user UDNL shared in a post on Reddit.

Cora Highbay is one of the victims you want to save during your investigation into the murders taking place around Baldur’s Gate. If you succeed, you can find and speak to several orphans in her house who thank you profusely for saving her.

As one might assume, Cora takes these children under her wing, and so the player assumes that she is doing this because she lost her own child.

In the comments, players then compared her story to that of Ketheric Thorm, explaining the contrast in their way of dealing with grief, Cora’s being much more positive compared to Ketheric’s madness.

Despite Cora’s positive nature about dealing with grief, it didn’t stop players from feeling sad when they realized what she had been through. Some shared small details they had also found, including a letter Cora and her husband had written to Lathander asking for another child.

“Here’s another sad fact: One of the orphans she adopted is the child of the deceased Flaming Fist that the Ephren Fist prays to at Waukine’s Rest,” another player shared.

The weight of such a small story in Baldur’s Gate 3 impressed players, solidifying Baldur’s Gate 3 ‘s place as one of the best games of all time.
