Baldur’s Gate 3 players discover creepy secret use for Karlach’s severed head

Despite being an unlikely choice, decapitating Karlach could potentially aid Baldur’s Gate 3 players in solving a secret puzzle during Act 2.

Baldur’s Gate 3 offers players the freedom to pursue various playthroughs, with the most unsettling choices being those aligned with evil and Durge. One such decision is whether to end Karlach’s life, a plot twist that may be deemed sacrilegious by some, but which still intrigues certain fans enough to see it through.

Content creator Toyhouze revealed in his article “New Secrets I Learned After 800 Hours of Baldur’s Gate 3″that players are able to keep Karlach’s severed head after killing her. Additionally, the head can be utilized to solve a secret puzzle in Act 2.

Prior to utilizing it as a weapon, players must first refuse Karlach’s proposition to join forces and instead defeat her in battle on The Risen Road in Act 1. Once victorious, they must then retrieve her head by interacting with her lifeless body. Delivering the head to Anders, the Paladin of Tyr who was hunting the beloved tiefling, will result in the completion of the “Hunt the Devil”quest.

Nonetheless, it was uncovered by Toyhouze that keeping Karlach’s head instead of completing the quest in Act 2, can serve as an alternative purpose. It can be utilized to unravel a concealed puzzle located in Balthazar’s laboratory at X:-145, Y: 173.

After arriving at the location, the group will come across a mysterious bookcase that can be safely opened by inserting either a head or heart into the adjacent table. If they have retrieved Karlach’s head, they can use it as a key to unlock a hidden room in Moonrise Towers.

Players of Baldur’s Gate 3 have observed that any other heart or severed body part can be used as a key, leading them to believe that the concept of using Karlach’s head as a key is more suitable for evil playthroughs. However, a user suggested using one of the hearts found in Balthazar’s messy and cluttered room instead. They added, “I would never harm my companion Karlach, as she is always there to support me.”

While players who enjoy playing as the villain eagerly anticipate more “negative”outcomes in the upcoming updates, they are currently exploring the most detestable decisions available to them, such as returning Scratch to his monstrous kettle master or allowing “evil”Wyll to pursue his aspirations of becoming a Grand Duke.
