Baldur’s Gate 3 players say they were “ripped off” by Larian when they were given the option to fully customize their Tav’s Guardian Angel.
Released in August 2023, Baldur’s Gate has taken the video game world by storm. Not only was it crowned Game of the Year, but it also won awards for Best RPG, Best Multiplayer Game and Best Community Support.
The game takes players on a wonderful journey. With the ability to customize every aspect of the main character and determine the outcome of the story, Baldur’s Gate 3 offers players the ultimate RPG experience.
One of the biggest attractions of Baldur’s Gate is the character creation. Once completed, players can create their Tav’s Guardian Angel. This entity will watch over the character throughout his journey. But the Guardian Angels are not what the community initially expected.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Guardian Angels Aren’t What Players Expected
A post on the official Baldur’s Gate Reddit by u/DumbIdeaGenerator criticized Larian Studios regarding Guardian Angels. The player criticized them for giving them a false sense of security. Once considered their character’s protectors, they have become a real nightmare.
“Larian knew exactly what they were doing, giving players the opportunity to customize their dream Guardian Angel at the start of the game,” the poster said. “I spent almost an hour customizing my perfect waifu with lots of eye shadow and black lipstick, only to find out in Act 3 that it was a F***ING MIND FLAGLER.”
Mind Flayers are the main “antagonists”of the game, who take the main characters hostage at the start and implant parasites in their brains. With a time bomb in their heads, characters have two options: break free from control or succumb to it.
“The dream keeper is a really clever principle of psychology,” one person replied. “The game asked me to create them, so they have to be trustworthy and reliable. They could have made them standard, male or female, but no, designing them has a stronger emotional effect.»
The twist in Act 3 left many players with a mixture of shock and awe. Some believe that creating your own enemy was evil, but thought it was the best choice. Either way, customize your Guardian Angel carefully during your next game.
