Baldur’s Gate 3: Shadowheart’s Unexpected Attack in Honour Mode

Losing an Honour Mode run is harsh in Baldur’s Gate 3, but it becomes even more devastating when your least dependable companion is the one to bring an end to your Tav’s life.

The Baldur’s Gate 3 community is well aware that Shadowheart, the game’s Cleric of Shar who can be friendly at times, struggles with hitting her targets when it counts. Whether it be with her spells or melee strikes, Shadowheart is notorious for missing in the majority of battles.

Despite this, a player shared a clip on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit and demonstrated that Shadowheart can be a formidable ally, even if it means sacrificing your character within the first 20 minutes of an Honour Mode playthrough.

The post in question featured the player deliberately provoking Shadowheart, resulting in a heated battle. The situation was likely exacerbated by the fact that they were playing as a Gith, a race that Shadowheart is known to be wary of.

After Shadowheart used Guiding Bolt to strike the character and followed up with Inflict Wounds, the combat came to a swift end. The entire skirmish lasted approximately 20 seconds, a much faster defeat than what Shadow typically achieves when facing an opponent.

Of course, the community did sympathize with the poster, but the main source of amusement revolved around Shadowheart’s unexpected skill in landing hits.

“One player jokingly pointed out how fans often complain about “shart misses blah blah blah”without realizing the power of Inflict Wounds, comparing it to a truck hitting its target.”

The effectiveness of Shadowheart as a Cleric is evident in the highly useful spell, Inflict Wounds. This spell showcases her true power.

“Another player joked that Inflict Wounds does not permanently miss like her Firebolt (int) or her Sacred Flame, as it scales with her wisdom.”

Despite Shadowheart’s potential for great power, it appears that her abilities only truly manifest when she is facing off against the player or a Gith, which raises doubts about the reliability of her strength.
