Banned Ex-COD Pro Seeks Return After Hacking Ban

A previous professional player of Call of Duty, who was disqualified during the Call of Duty Championship for being caught in a ban wave aimed at hackers, is now making an effort to return to the competitive scene – and has reportedly been given permission by tournament officials to participate.

In July 2023, Team Orbit was removed from the Challengers Champs competition when player Bryan ‘Jimbo’ Sabman received a mid-event ban due to a large ban wave initiated by Activision. The ban wave was aimed at hackers and individuals utilizing cheating software.

It was the first instance of a competitor in the upper echelons of COD esports being caught cheating, raising doubts about his teammates and the possible extent of Jimbo’s cheating in online games and tournaments.

Despite disappearing from the Call of Duty scene for several months, Jimbo seems to be making a comeback. According to reports, FACEIT, the administrators of Challengers, are allowing him to do so.

According to the Challengers news platform The Rotation, Jimbo, who goes by the pseudonym Jimbolah, along with his teammates Prospect, Archives, and TayBTC, has officially registered for the April 20 NA Challengers Cup. FACEIT has granted them permission to participate, despite not being included in the list of competing teams.

If Jimbo decides to play again, he may face punishment from Activision for evading his previous ban. It is unlikely that he will be able to resume playing without consequences.

If he were to participate, his opponents and viewers may doubt the integrity of his gameplay, and it could also lead to uncomfortable inquiries for his teammates.
